Here's my story and how I am here

Hello everyone just wanted to introduce myself!

Let me go ahead and describe my setup first

VAMO V5 SS
2 Protank 3's 2.0 ohm coils (Older coils with silicone cap over wicks)
2 Panasonic NCR18650b 3400 mAh batteries
Intelli i2 Charger

E-liquids by Virgin Vapor
1/2 oz Organic Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough 1.2% nicotine VG
1/2 oz Organic Double Expresso 1.2% nicotine VG
1/2 oz Organic Naked Vanilla 1.2% nicotine VG

I just recently quit tobacco products and started vaping. My buddy recommended I started out with the Vamo V5 and some Protank 3's and I must say I was rather disappointed with the coils in the Protank that I got. I had no idea that there was even the upgraded coils when I made the purchase but we will get to that.

I received my Vamo V5 in SS and instantly noticed it was different than the ones in the reviews I saw on YouTube when going through the menus. I had a Time option as my second menu setting instead of the LCD menu that I thought that was going to be there and the 3rd option was the LCD on/off switch. I also noticed that on the display it showed current volts, resistance of the tank, and the battery life all on the same screen without having to press any buttons to see the info. INSTANTLY I was amazed and thought they may have updated the V5 due to what the people wanted and thought that was very very cool. Messed around with taking the battery out to see if it saved my settings and it did which also amazed me because in the reviews I watched it did not. Asked a lot of people about RMS with the V5 and they ALL SAID IT DID NOT HAVE IT. WELLLLLLL. If you hold the left menu button past the voltage reading you get to RMS output or Mean output. HAHA!!! Thought that was pretty cool, and changed it over to mean. Very satisfied with that purchase.

Moving on to the Protank 3's..... Sigh...... Such a pain in my A**!!!! I didn't know until yesterday that there were enclosed "upgraded" coils for these tanks and work on some Aero's too. I had the ones with the silicone caps on them and all they ever did was flood. I never got a good vape. I got the 2 ohm coils and set the Vs to 3.7 after letting the tank saturate for about 10 minutes and they never burned right. I tried out the chocolate chip cookie dough first and all I got was a mouth full of liquid and barely any vapor. I had to crank the volts to 4.7 to 5.3 just to get a little vapor and after an hour of this the coil was already burnt out to the point it had a charcoal crust all around it. Needless to say I was not very happy. None of my coils actually worked.

So that brings me to this website where I started doing a little research and Google brought me here. I learned about tips and tricks to change the flavor wicks with cotton ones, or changing it to 2mm silica. Then I found a post about the upgraded enclosed coils and I became angry because if I knew this I would've never put these crappy ones in. I couldn't wait to have any shipped so I searched for a store and just so happened to have one 9 minutes away from the job. I went there on lunch break and got both the 1.5 ohms and the 2's.

When I got home with them I made a 50/50 of some chocolate chip cookie dough and the expresso that I have and let them sit for about 15 minutes. I started with the 1.5 ohm and when I fired it at 3V it was like I had a whole new mod. No flooding what so ever! I was the happiest guy around. So I did the same with a 70/30 mix of the naked vanilla and the expresso on the 2 ohm and let her rip at 3.7. Again, flawless.

I have become so happy with my mod now that I ordered a lot of these coils for these tanks, and I am now here on these forums to stay. I would love to learn how to rebuild heads before I upgrade from my Vamo and I am sure this is the right place to learn. Just wanted to say thank you guys for helping someone out you didn't even know you were helping directly :2cool:

Welcome aboard!

Sounds like you have a great setup (and some awesome flavahs, too!) Glad you've got some of the speedbumps smoothed out :)

ECF is an amazing place for information. I wish I'd found this much sooner in my vaping journey, but I'm here now (and like a bad penny, keep coming back for more!)

Enjoy :vapor:

Love the analogy!

Thanks for the feedback on my setup. I know Protanks have got equal bad rep as they do good rep here on ECF but I def recommend them AS LONG AS you get the enclosed coils. The other ones aren't even worth a bad penny :p

Highly recommend any of the flavors I have received, very very very tasteful and great aroma. Highly recommend anything from Virgin Vapor actually.

I am glad that I have had this set up about a week and have found this forum because I am sure my journey will become very eventful now that all of the info is here in front of me. Smooth vaping from here on out :toast:

It is nice. I wasn't too much of a cigarette person anyways. I smoked a pack and a half of Black and Mild wood tips a day for YEARS!!!!!! Now just to be around tobacco after a week makes it a little unpleasant of an experience since I do have friends that still smoke. I am trying to get them to come to the E-Side. We have cookie flavored liquids :D
