how do you know where to do the solder and how and what to connect...I have all my stuff I want in a basket, so just have to add the batteries and anything else, realllllllly want to make a juice feed box mod..

Hi. I looked at the how to on the MadVapes site. Someone posted the link, above. I read people talking about banging it out in 15 mins. But it took me closer to an hour or so because I had no idea what I was doing. Lol. Not sure about juice feeding it, I'm not that good yet. Good luck, the thing rocks. I can say I pretty much looked at the pictures of the how to, and just mocked them. But, some of the pictures were a bit hard to tell what was connected. I would like to put together some clearer pictures of what connects to what at some point.

I posted the link earlier on this thread but here it is again for anyone who missed it. MadVapes e-Cig 'How To' Tutorials • View topic - 2xAA 3.7 Volt Box Mod. Just add at least 2 of the 14500 batteries, a charger or 2 and some 510 atty's if you don't already have some.

My order didn't come today so that means I have like 5 mods to build either tomorrow evening or Saturday morning before our local meet Saturday afternoon. I'll try to get some pics of the build-ups if I have the time. Scheduled to be built are a 2x14500 3xAA box@3.7v for "extended range", a 1xAA sized 5v regulated Passthrough (and just realized I might be out of USB cables to sacrifice....eh, I don't print much), a white 2xAA size "MadVapes style" single 14500 box, a 4xAA size box that I haven't decided on whether to build a 5v mod or a "Travel Mate" style that will run off 1 14500 or 2 14500's for extra vape-time while fitting a 3ml bottle and spare atty/carto all inside the box. And finally one translucent blue 3xAA style that I forgot what I was gonna do with.

Ok ...I printed that entire thing out ( 20 pages!!!! ) doesnt really show very good what to solder to what..hmmm Im soooo excited to do this, I can not wait. I ordered today.....

So not sure how long it will take to get here. Not sure what I can use to get the holes cut out, might have to go knocking door to door until I find the tool I need..haha my husband shorted out my black and decker tool I had. ... ( never let a plumber borrow your tools.. they dont do good with electrical stuff..lol ) That is my first hold up. Next is the soldering part of what to solder to what.. maybe when it gets here and I lay it all out then I can better see and match up with the photos.... oh gosh I hope I can do this...I sooooooooo want a hot pink flash light mod I can not stand it.

I have only made 50 of these so far. Although I did have to register with Homeland security for buying 500 battery boxes from China. LOL I guess I might have used them to blow up our water tower?? I have given away most of them. I got most of my friends hooked on 510's and kr8's and now that they need something better I felt like I should help them out.

Thanks you guys and gals who sent me parts.

Drill bits;
11/32 for the connector
1/8 for the 3mm LED
And I think it was 31/64 for the horn switch. Careful when you get to this size hole when drilling plastic. It's real easy for the bit to tear into the box and rip it to shreds.

Notables;
LED: The longer of the 2 legs is positive.
Resistor: Unidirectional
Switch: Unidirectional
Connector: Typical polarity is positive center and negative outer

Yah and it will catch the plastic and rip it out of your hand.

Well, so this really confused me...... and I was wondering how on earth it is like to drill plastic like that. Now Im scared to death..ha
Looks like I need to buy a drill or something then huh... im sure my brother or someone has something that drills. Does the holes need to be PERFECT or just enought to get the part threw and attached??

The better the holes the better the finished product will be. Getting that connector in snug in the first place will help keep it where it belongs. the switch has some room on it. The LED...eh...asthetics.

haha sorry... I started yappin on both earlier today and felt the need to keep replying to ppl. Well hopefully it all comes together when it gets here. I think the hole drilling is going to be the hardest part. So that little pink flashlight mod..... how much harder is it to make vs this box mod...I want a pink one sooooo bad!!

The thing with flashlight mods is that there are many many ways to make them. I can't get into them now...it's after midnight here and I really need to crash. I'm sure someone can step in here. As far as "how hard is it?"...get some box mod kit builds under your belt first and flashlight mods become a bit easier =)

I know the how-to talks about drilling, but mine came ready with holes drilled!! Did I get lucky?? Or is that normal?

I found while working on other projects involving drilling into plastic that putting a piece of masking tape helps. That way you can mark the drill point (especially on black plastic where a pen mark is hard to see). I draw a circle a bit smaller than what I need and finish with a rat tail file to make that perfect fit. With a box mod it's way to keep track of what the hole is for but on other projects, I can easily mark what hole is which. Also if your solder tip is too wide, I wrap a thick paperclip around the tip for a makeshift needle tip. I find a phillips screwdriver the same size as my tip, unbend a paper clip and coil the wire around the screwdriver (will look like a spring), put on solder tip, cut off any excess, and "tin" the tip (melt a bit of solder on it before using). Hope that helps. cheers.

That's normal if you buy the "kit". All the parts in that kit are available separately as well with the boxes untouched. The first box mod I built was the kit just for the experience. Now I use un-drilled boxes so I can position the components where I want.
