Hey everyone! Thinking of converting.

First off, this site is awesome. I've looked around lots over the last day or two, finding tons of info and activity. It's encouraging that so many people are enthusiastic about vaping.

I've been noticing for some time just how awful ordinary cigs make my airways feel... well, not "ordinary" so much: I hand-roll them, no filters, to save $$$. With rollies, it's hard to tell how much I smoke. Maybe 15-25/day? It's only gotten worse in the last few weeks, during and after loads of school-induced stress. It'd be nice to breathe right again.

After looking around here, I've almost decided to make the plunge - either a 901 from myvaporstore or a vx2 from litecig. But as a cash-strapped student, I worry about what it's all gonna cost me, both in terms of the initial investment and in terms of long-run expenses for maintenance and supplies. So I've been hesitating, but I may make my first order as soon as this afternoon.

Anyways, I'm glad I found this place, and perhaps I'll soon become a happy vaper!

I'm somewhat new to vaping too. I got my first e-cig a few weeks ago.
IMHO this is by far the easiest and maybe best way to stop smoking analogs. I essentially stopped immediately and have had 3 or 4 analog cigs in the past few weeks.

My lungs have cleared up and my I no longer stink of cigarette smoke.

I don't have any analog cigarettes in the house. I do feel an urge to grab a real cig sometimes, but I just vape and forget about it.

vaping is cheaper in the long run, but there is an investment initially for supplies and equipment.

It doesn't have to be overly expensive, but you must shop around and read the forums to find the best deal.

I built my first manual usb pass through using a 901 atomizer yesterday at a cost of less than $20. Not sure how long the atomizer will last with a full 5 volts, but so far it is totally kicking .... on the vapor output.

Best advice for anyone new to vaping is to get usb passthrough and juice. For me the batteries were always frustrating with short lifespan and constant recharging and the carts never last long enough. My first ecig was a 901 and really saw the potential for the device to replace ciggs but just got so angry with all the "maintenance." Search the forums and choose carefully because to replace the tobacco you'll need convenience and reliability.

I have only been vaping a few days. The first day after most of the day vaping, I had an analog. To me it was nasty, STRONG, STINKY and not to pleasant. Seriously I haven't WANTED one since, their still in my purse though and thats where I plan to keep them till trash day. Even in this short period of time, I dont cough at night and I can BREATHE... Just my 2 cents worth, I wish I had started sooner.
Good Luck...Patti

Thanks for the input! What model did you start with, ohionana?

From what I've read here, the 510 is a popular model, but its charge runs out quickly. What's the best way to deal with that? A passthrough would be nice, but even w/o the actual smoke, I'd probably not vape indoors much; I presently live w/ people who'd not appreciate it, and when I'm at school, I love going outside anyway. Plus, I don't want any excuses to become more of a nicotine fiend than I already am.

Yea then dont get a passthru! If you can, try not to use it at any other times you did a cigarette. I still prefer the 901...not the best parts but cheaper replacements.
Can you go try one before you buy one?

Get the passthrough and carry a kensignton or similiar rechargable w/usb. It'll give you a lot more hours than you will see with the batteries provided that are just so finickey. Don't think I spelled that right but anyway, that way you can stay mobile and have some reliability. Good luck.

I would also suggest the 510 as a first E-cigg, it has 180mah batteries and the kit usually comes with 2 atomizers and batteries. Go here and visit the sites using a cupon code, find the best deal you can get on a kit and get that one. The battery last at least as long as any other before charging and with a manual button you have more control. It has a large cartridge and produces more smoke then any other near it's size. People will probably not mind you vaping as it has a pleasant smell and no second hand chemicals. The 510 is my primary PV now as it just out performs the N-Pro that I liked so well.

I've been vaping for a week now with the 510 manual, Lobsters Attack!, so I'm a total newbie, but I can tell you that I did order two extra batteries and that makes a big difference. I was a pack a day smoker for 23 years. How many analogs have I had in the last week? Seven. It's that first morning cigarette I'm working on dropping. So, about 140 cigs a week down to seven...I'm happy :)

Would you say the extra batteries were essential to keeping it up throughout the day? I can imagine ordering an extra one, but I don't want to sink too much cash into this project until I know I can continue. I was thinking about getting the kit + 20mL juice, don't want to spend much more than that just yet.

510 kit, with 2 atomizers, minimum 2 batteries(manual batts have more control but auto's are not the end of the world) + 20ml juice and you'll be off and running

I started (or quit)10 days ago and my wife and I managed to squeeze by sharing this amount, but if we were'nt both home the batts would have been a problem, finally got my extra kit yesterday
so were good now

Also make sure your first kit is from u.s. so you don't have to wait. Almost anywhere in the us can get it to you in 2 days

Well, I suppose that depends on where you spend most of the day. I work out of my office so two batteries is sufficient so far. I vape with one and have the other in the charger. Then switch out as needed. I'm using up the charge on about two batteries a day, but your milage may vary depending on how much you vape.

If you don't have access to your charger during the day I would say at least one extra battery would be a good idea. Especially since there is always a chance one will fail. Also, look for a kit with two atomizers instead of just one. Having just one puts you totally out of business if it goes south. I've had two great purchasing experiences with Jason at Electro-Nix-Stick, but he is temporarily out of stock on kits for the moment, it seems.

three batteries aday here with joye510 i got passthrough came with battery in it works in 1hr after usb pluged in first time. but after its fully charged the pass through that is, you can unplug it & now works with internal& replaceable battery in it.use this on arrival while you charge the other batteries follow manual instructions on 1st charge .then i also got the pcc case charge through a usb on pc or purchase wall adapter - USB , this holds& charges 1 battery up to 4-5 times & also holds 2 carts & 1 attomizer. Also got 1each spare battery& attomizer in addition to the 2 of each the kit comes with by the way i opted for the manual batt just try not to hold for more than 4-5seconds then ifi am still dragging i wil press& hold for 1-2 seconds at a time,or cart might start to melt. if you carry 2 batteries two attomizers the pcc & the charged usb pass through, sounds like a lot but it is really no bigger than a pack of 100's you are GOOD 2 GO! that comes from a used to be 1-2 pack a day analoger all purchased for under $130 you will want to get juice. menthals i have had were strong mint like gum mint. try different brands for me it is just a matter of personal opinion's ,but do try fruit flavors you may not even want desert after them! P.S. THIS IS ALL JUST MY OPINION BUT THE FACTs ARE THE PRICE I PAID FOR WHAT I ORDERED. otherwise its all trial & error on what you like& what you do with yours,I had SE goldok if you smoked carltons or maybe a light smoke/I would suggest 510 or dura c. i do not even think about analogs since i got the 510. happy vaping LATER!

Thanks everyone! Just ordered my first ecig, a Yeti 510. I didn't realize the USB passthrough was also a battery, so I may well get that in the future, but for now I want to make sure I like vaping enough to continue. Same for extra batts; I'm usually near an outlet, but if I find that the two don't cut it, I'll get another, or build one of those portable battery packs I read about in the DIY section.

Can't wait to try it, and it's great to have the support of the community.
