hey guys, so I did my research and ordered my first mech mod. I bought an vgod elite mech mod, with vgod elite rda and Vgod pro coils. Yes I went with all vgod to be safe, i was reading up and the vgod pro coils are rated ohms between .16-.18. And if it is a .18 and I use a battery at 4.2. It would need 26ish amps. I emailed vgod and they recommended a battery with 30-35 Amps and has 2500-3200mah. But i have yet to find a battery with that kind of specifics. The closest I’ve came to is the vtc5a at 25a. Any input or recommendation on what batteries to use or should i go about buying another pack of prebuit coils with higher ohms?

Yeah, no such 18650 battery exists with those specs. Kind of a cop out answer to your question by VGOD.

I would suggest higher ohm coils and use an ohm reader to check the resistances before firing them on the mech.

The batteries with the highest true amp rating are below:

If you want to play it on the safe side, look for some prebuilt coils rated above .2 ohms. Voltage drop will bring your battery down a bit though, so I personally wouldn't worry too much about .18 ohm coils when using a VTC5a. As always, it's better to be safe and worrying about exceeding your battery limitations can put a damper on your enjoyment.

Thank you guys, do you guys have any specific recommendations for coils? I’m still new to RDA’s and not entirely confident on building my own yet so still looking at prebuilts. If y’all have any recommendations for prebuilt coils I’d love to take a look at them.
Coilology has some decent machine made coils that won't break the bank. I've been using Ni80 staples and aliens almost exclusively lately. It's all subjective but I've noticed better flavor from Ni80 and they heat up faster than Kanthal or steel.

I spin my own but I hear good things about Advanced Vape Supply. If you want exotic coils I cannot recommend enough Raymo2u, he's on Instagram and on Esty as BuildersBoutique. His work is a work of art and extremely functional, plus one excellent individual.

With that said I would start with just building basic coils, move to twisted and parallel for they're very easy to build. That's what I did then I watched Grimm Greens YouTube on Easy Claptons and fused Claptons are very, very easy to make. The quality of SS Fused Claptons are outstanding over basic or parallel coils, anything beyond that IMO is very small gain for the trouble of making. When I get the itch I'll buy a few coils from Raymo but 99.99% I vape on my own.

Also Mech's it's mostly about wire mass, especially with single battery Mech's. With them I'll use between 28g - 30g SS for my Core wires and 38g - 40g for my wrapping wire. Very responsive and safe builds that provide a nice thick warm vape. I've seen commercial Clapton wire with 30g and 32g wrapping wire way too much wire mass especially for a single battery mech. Even on a regulated Mod 30g-32g wrapping wire takes long ramp up, retains heat way too long, basically it sucks.

Anyway that's my two bit's for what it's worth.

I've bought coils from FT before, they are serviceable, and certainly there will be a time lag. I know a lot of folks buy from Advanced Vapor Supply and there are several others. I just bought my first "somewhat" exotic coils from FT (there is no way on this earth that I will ever be able to build much other than simple round wires-- and I was happy to get there) so if you are interested in trying some different things, I'd say give it a shot. It can be nice sometimes to start somewhere interesting, and since I have a fine motor tremor, I will sometimes use prebuilt coils if I'm having a bad day. I have a fairly decent stock now (and enough wire, well, for like, ever).

I'm glad these things exist, there are just vape skills that I'm fairly certain I may never master, although as a MTL vaper, really a simple single coil is good enough for me. I mainly ordered them out of interest. But, I have found FT coils to be serviceable for what they are, what they cost, and etc. I really felt I had "little" to lose by trying some exotic wires and premade coils and they most certainly make my life easier.

Good luck in your search!

Anna
