Hey everyone!

With help from this forum I think I finally settled on my first E-cigarrette setup; the Joyetech eGo ONE and the Kanger Subtank Nano. Because this is going to be my first setup, I'd like to ask you guys some questions.

- What kind of replacement parts should I expect to buy? Should I buy some of them beforehand?
- Will 1100 mAh last me a day if I'm used to a pack of cigarettes? Or should I get the 2200 mAh eGo ONE isntead?
- Will the Subtank Nano allow me to try out both lung-hitting (with the sub-ohm tank) and mouth-hitting (with the 1.2 ohm tank)?
- And what strength e-liquid should I start with on this setup?

Thanks for the help. And the seemingly very solid community :)

I was on a pack of camel filters a day and tried 18mg to start and it was too much, 12mg was a lot better. There's some really great info on juices here, these places have good prices and get lab tested...

For a cheap start you could always get the CE4 or Evod blister pack starter kits. As you move up they could be a backup to your nicer rigs. MFS has Evod starter kits. Ego battery, Evod tank and charger for $7.95 each. 2 of those and a 5 pack of coils for a bit over $20.
I just pass on my old stuff to new beginning vapers to get them off of cigs.
+1 i still use my evod 2s to have a try of some new juice or have a very different juice that isn't throughout the day. Just get them for a fair price - research! And they are a very nice start.

Have a subtank mini and atlantis too now, subtank is great, atlantis is too though i use it as a secondary.. Def notice a difference in juice and battery consumption

Now, it's a bit pricier, but this set up will be great for you for quite some time. I would suggest either the iStick 30W or the Sigelei 30W, paired with a SubTank Mini. Both will put out more than you /should/ (varies based on individual) need for the .5ohm coils. But, if you use the .5's, I wouldn't suggest going more than 12MG. Honestly I'd suggest 3-6. But, I don't know how much you used to smoke. I went from 36MG in my old eGo, to 12 in this exact set up. But, I was a 3 pack a day smoker. Marlboro Black 100's.

The istick 30s are great for their size and easy to use, no complaints about the subtank either - about to get another.
Some of the folks on here recommended this site that has great prices on kanger- Kanger Coils - they are an authorized reseller (so probably pay wholesale)?

In saying all that I am about to get a couple of sigelei 30ws myself just so I have something reliable with batteries that are replaceable.

Enjoy the vaping Appeltaart!

After all the suggestions of the Subtank Mini over the Nano I looked a little further. I still don't really like the box designs of the iSticks or Sigelei's.

I did come across the SMPL Mod, which looks incredible. But I don't really understand how it works, as it doesn't have a button. Can anyone explain this? And would it work well with a Subtank Mini, or should I look for another sub-ohm tank?

One thing to keep in mind about the Subtank nano vs. the mini on an ego one battery; the ego one battery is 19 mm, the Subtank nano is 18 mm, and the Subtank mini is 22 mm. If looks matter to you, the mini might look strange as it will hang over. I actually have the Subtank mini and an ego one battery (I don't use them together, but I can take a pic if you want. I also have a 22 mm tank I can put on the ego one if you want to see how that looks).

I have the ego one battery in both sizes. The smaller one definitely does NOT last me all day.

As far as the nic question, you might find that you want different strengths for sub ohm lung inhales vs. mouth to lung higher ohm coils. I vape at 6-12 on my higher ohm coils, but on my sub ohm lung hit coils, I prefer 3 mg.

If you're looking at the subtank series as your first tank, do NOT go with a direct to battery mod like the SMPL. It's far from beginner and the positive connection can cause battery shorting from the tank to the battery. That & it requires separate 18650 batteries. The ego1 and iStick mods have internal batteries and are easier to use.
The button for the SMPL mod is on the twist off bottom cap btw.

If you do not like the design of the iStick/Sigelei mods, check out the IPV mini 30w & the IPV mini 2, which is 70w. The 30w mini would pair perfectly with a subtank mini. It has the same chip as the Sigelei Mini. I use my Atlantis tank on it, and both tanks have coils rated for up to 30w of power. Just my .02¢

Sitting down, facing forward.
When I started vaping all I wanted was a cig-a-like. I sure didn't want something that looked like the pressure relief valve for a high pressure steam generator. Now I use those pressure relief valves all the time, but I still use auto cig-a-likes for hands free operation. I also didn't want a box mod at all, now I have a collection of them as well, they're pretty pocket friendly.

If you want a decent, beginners, mod try a Vamo. You will need batteries and a charger, but in terms of bang for your bucks, it's fairly hard to beat. I only use RBA tanks, having graduated from the replaceable coil models, so I can't really offer any serious advice.

Again, whatever you finally decide on and like, backups for backups of your backups.

Welcome! Appeltaart to the vaping community! Just grab a starter kit that comes with a couple of batteries and a couple of tanks and give it a go! You'll most likely want to trade up in a few months to something more adaptable as your knowledge of whats available and what you need grows. I did the whole route..from cig-a-likes on up and your needs/wants change with time. I was smoking 2 packs a day and started with 18mg nic. Every 3 months I've dropped the nic down and am now using 3mg. The important part you've already done..the decision to vape and not smoke. Good luck to 'ya

I ended up ordering the Subtank Mini and the new eGo One Mega. The Mega, being 22mm wide, seems like the perfect safe alternative to a mech mod.

I figure this setup will scale a lot better than the eGo One XL and Nano, as I can use other 22mm tanks on the Mega, get into RBA if I'd ever dare, and enjoy the Mini on a future battery.

Thanks everyone, for being amazingly supportive and welcoming to a new member! I'll be sure to drop by these forums in the future :)

I would go with an APV like an iStick 30W/50W, they are small enough to not really buldge your pocket and the battery lasts a good amount of time (even for heavy vaping).

I have a Kanger Subtank Mini along with Aspire Atlantis tanks. I prefer the Atlantis over the Mini personally. The Atlantis gets hot very quickly and goes through juice fast but I've never had a problem with it, I can't say much about that concerning the Kanger.
