I am using a 901 357 and mine runs very hot also, but I think that is just the way it is when you run a lr atty at the higher end of the standard recommended voltage. 2.0ohm atty at 4.2 to 4.6 is towards the top so I am not surprised that it is running hot. I use my 1.5 at 4.0 to 4.2 and the same goes for that. Also, the time that it runs the most hot is after dripping fresh drops so it could be because the atty is trying to power through the flooding causing the heat. To find out if you have a v2, if you look down at the coil, next to each side of the ceramic cup there are two small holes, one on each side.

edit: Also the 306 always ran hot for me and that is the coil used inside the 357.

One of the tricks mentioned for the hh.357 if it isn't behaving properly is to take the atty in your fingers, facing open end down, and smack it as hard as you can on the nearest table a few times. That seems to repack the SS Wool and puts a little pressure on both sides of the coil wire to separate coil loops that have touched.

Here is why you should stick with the hh.357 even if the one you have is currently being problematic. I took this for another thread, but what you see obscuring me is the result of a 2 second drag from an hh.357 2.0 ohm at ~4.4v using AVE 555. This is how your hh should perform when broken in and using high-VG juice:

You may be having the same problem I'm experiencing with mine. I got a 2.5ohm about 3 weeks ago which measured at 2.6ohm at the start. On about the 5th day, it dropped to 2.2ohm and stayed there for awhile, then started dropping again. It has been slowly creeping down in ohms and is currently at 1.6ohm. I don't know why this is happening, or even if this kind of thing is normal for attys??? I wonder, have you been monitoring your ohms?

Glad it's not just me :) I ordered a couple of 3 ohm HH .357's a few weeks ago. Started out right on spec at 3 ohms then slowly started to drop in resistance. I've take care of this atty per spec - vodka bath, etc. It still seems to perform OK, I just need to keep dropping voltage. I opened a ticket with avid to see if they have any insight and will let everyone know what they say.

I had the same exact experience. Started at 2.6ohm and slowly dropped incrementally to .9ohm... then it died, not suprisingly. Only 1.5 months of use. Pulling the pin and/or smashing it on the table will not revive this atty. I'll stick with the Cisco LR normal priced attys. I think the flavor is just about as good as the 357 anyway. 3 out of 4 Cisco LRs have lasted me for over 6 month now and still vape really well.

I did get a very helpful response back from Avid today about the falling resistance problem. While there was obviously little that she could tell without seeing the atomizer, she did say that this problem is usually caused by carbon buildup on the coil. I'll take her word for it, but I have been religious about cleaning per Hanna's instructions on the site, and I have only used a light juice (Rawr Truth Serum). She did say that there are some juices that don't react well with the HH .357, but not sure which ones those would be. I'm still using the first atomizer and waiting for it to die (just reducing voltage as the resistance drops), but will be able to tell more when I try the second one - hopefully this one is just a dud.
