I got a juice sampler from HHV a few days ago. The very first thing I loaded up was Legend - it's as good as everyone says. Vapor production, throat hit, and flavor are all damn good. I ran through all 3ml in the course of about two hours. I am definitely going to reorder this one. HHV's sampler packs are 70/30 pg/vg and 12mg nic concentration.
On to the posted topic though. I cleaned out my ZAP, and loaded up the DD Watermelon. I've gone through about a half tank of the DDW juice now, and love the flavor but am underwhelmed with the juice's other characteristics.
FYI, my setup is as follows: ZAP on a ProVari, using one of the #400 SS Mesh pre-oxidized wicks that comes with the kit wrapped 5-4 with 30g A-1 Kanthal at 1.5 ohms. This is the same setup I used for the Legend, which I was more than happy vaping on at 3.7 volts for a calculated wattage of 9.13W.
The DDW juice does not wick particularly well - it appears to be too thin to allow proper capillary action. I can keep the wick wet using the tilt method, but if I tilt for more than a couple of seconds, the juice starts dripping pretty quickly from the wick.
I also notice that the juice burns very easily. I'm stuck using 3.2V or less (6.83 W calculated). If I go above this, within a couple of seconds of pushing the button, the juice starts burning and giving a lovely charred taste. This is likely due to the wicking problems mentioned above.
Long story short, I'm stuck (currently) using low voltage and not being able to fire my PV for very long, resulting in poor vapor production and poor throat hit.
I will try building my own wick (probably a solid roll) to see if I can improve wicking. I want to love this juice because the flavor (when not burning/dry hitting) is amazing. Unless I can fix the poor wicking problem though, I think that this one is not a repeat.
Anyone else have these problems with the DDW? Anyone tried the juice using other juice delivery systems and had luck? Any thoughts on how I should go about fixing my dillemma?
