Hi, I have been vaping for only 3 1/2 weeks. so far so good. I even made some videos for youtube. I registered because I am really craving a real cigarette right now. A cigarette gives you that same flavor and nicotine and throat hit every time. My experience with vaping is frustrating. I have a ego c twist and a itaste vv v3.0. It is hard to get consistency in flavor and throat hit. I have been vaping halo tribeca 1.8% nicotine. Anyway It has helped me to stay of the cigarettes and I just needed to vent a little.

Hi Red Head and welcome to ECF. Congrats on 3 1/2 weeks smoke free :thumb:. I still remember having cigarette pangs when I was at that point and having to vape through them. I was using 1.8% also. It does get easier, just give it a bit of time. I was well over the worst of it after the second month, but that was me. Everyone has their own experience with quitting smoking.

You haven't said what attys you're using on top of the batteries. The topper is what makes the majority of the vape and the consistency. Let us know what you're using and how you are cleaning your coils when they get gunked up and maybe we can help out a bit.

Best of luck with it :)

Welcome, Red Head! We've all been right where you are, and I want you to know... It gets easier. I didn't think there was any chance that I would just QUIT smoking when I got my e-cig stuff, but, well, here I am almost 2 years later. A non-smoker! You can do it!

Here's the other thing... This might not be right for you, but when I really started craving a cigarette when I first started vaping, I had one. And after a couple of weeks, they tasted awful. I kept trying one once in a while for several months, until eventually I fully realized that smoking would never again have the hold on me it once did. After you've been vaping awhile, it tastes great, and cigarettes taste terrible.

Good luck to you!

Welcome to ECF, Red Head! I'm not too far ahead of you. 32 days cigarette free. Last 3 days I've been itching for one, badly. I take a deep breath, vape. Deep breath, vape. Sometimes it helps and sometimes I just have to get up and distract myself. I do not want to go back. It's tough sometimes though. I agree. There are so many factor that effect the hit, you will need to play around to find what works for you. Low battery, low vape. Too much air flow and it's like sucking through a soda straw. Boring. Bad or gooey coil, bad taste and/or low vape. Tanks, ratio of VG to PG, and the flavor of juice all play a roll. I started on a Vision Spinner VV that goes up to 4.8 volts. I'm now using a VV/VW and let me say that, I'm shocked, but watts make a difference as well. I'm someone who wants that big throat hit and flavor. Vape tongue is yet another factor. Enjoy the experimenting and keep your head up. Even if you fall back, you're still smoking much less and that is progress to be proud of. :)

(I'll let the experts correct any erroneous info I gave. Like I said, I'm only 32 days in.)

Yes, there's a learning curve; if you want to fast forward, order a rebuildable like a kayfun.
Meanwhile you got good starter batteries but what tanks do you have?

You'll need atomizer heads and you would probably want to rewick with cotton.

I'm afraid of the cheap chinese stuff, I always wonder how accurate or pure their ingredients are. What I do is I have a small Kamry X9 mini, it cost me less than $20. I keep some mostly pg vape in it, at first it was 2.4, now I use 1.8. (for me the flavor is menthol) When I want a cig, I have a few puffs on it. A few days after i switched to all vape-no cigs I took a drag on my husbands cig. (same brand I used to smoke). I swear, it tasted like I was licking an ashtray! YUCK.

Welcome to ECF and congrats. Some elements of e-cigs can frustrate new vapers. But hang in there, keep at it. You could also raise your nicotine level. Perhaps take some deep lung hits.

Congrats and good luck.

The key to consistency for me was a Provari (gives the exact same hit from a fully charged battery or from one thats almost completely dead) and a Phiniac carto tank.

Ive won other mods in the past couple of years but they just gather dust in the drawer and dont even come close to the consistency, reliability and ease of use of this setup.

The three to six week mark is the hardest to overcome. Take it from someone who has been completely cigarette free for almost 2 years now, it gets MUCH easier after that.

I agree with everyone here... It can and does get easier and once you find the set up you like, it will get easier. Just keep at it and don't give up. No matter what issues you are having I'm sure someone else here has had them and you will find many that are willing to help you through them. Keep working at it and soon you'll forget all about wanting that cigarette!!! Best of luck to you!!! :toast:

Welcome to ECF! It gets easier I promise. If you want to try a juice with more PG, try Mtbakervaper.com. They let you select the PG to VG ratio an it's all USA made juice. I would let anything you get from them steep for a while though. There are other sites out there that will let you choose your ratio as well.

If you don't mind my asking, what kind of toppers are you using. The VVv3 is a decent device. With the right topper, you can find a world of difference.

My experience has been a lot like LisaR... I never intended to quit completely, but now I'd rather have my pen 90% of the time - that is, unless I'm around a smoker, at which point I will usually try to share a cigarette with them. They do really start to taste gross after awhile. My current goal is to get my girlfriend to mostly-quit with me, and she has recently decided to take that step, but I haven't fully persuaded her to get a decent ecig yet. You can do it!

To the second part of your post, I did the exact same thing. The first week I quit analogs and started vaping, I was really craving a cig so I went ahead and had one. The taste was bad, but I finished it anyways. Every few days in between I would crave a cig and light it up, and it would just get more and more terrible until I just said screw it, no more real cigs for me.

If you want more throat hit and more cig-a-like experience, buy cheap Chinese juices with 80% PG.
You don't have to buy cheap juices as matter if fact that could turn you off completely just look for higher PG high quality eLiquid (Halo is awesome btw and they might 80/20 it's definitely higher in PG ) maybe up your nic until you figure out and/or experiment with rebuildable Atomizers this way you can eventually dial down your nic by compensating trying for a warmer vape, (lower ohms- which gives more throat hit) . Also it's probably been mentioned that those tanks your using are pre built and can wrapped too tight too loose etc accounting for varied vape experience..... Try to rebuild watch YouTube vids..... If you use a dripper be careful and don't let it run dry, as a dry hit off cotton wick can really turn you off..... Good luck staying off the stankies.

Welcome and congratulations to all you "new" folks :)

Just remember - it's not how many you smoke during this adventure, it's how many you DON'T smoke.... It took me 3-1/2 years to FINALLY put down real cigarettes in favor of vapor. We're one giant support group - "Hi, my name is Mary, and I'm a recovering cigarette smoker" I'm into my 4th month without a real cig, and I'm LOVING it.

There are many out here who still have a few cigs on occasion - no judging - you're an adult, and *YOU* have to choose what's most appropriate for your circumstances. MY choice is to stay away from them. R-E-S-P-E-C-T....

If you have questions, don't be afraid to ask them... You're not the first person with that question, and you won't be the last.
