Hi all!
Let me preface my post with the statement that I am not a native English speaker, and I'll try my best to write correctly, but it definitely won't be correct.
I am new to this forum, but definitely not new to vaping.
I am 40 years old, and I smoked cigarettes for about 11 years. Sometimes in 2011 my wife found out online about this new thing called "e-cigarette", and as she was ...... off with the smell of my cigarettes, and concerned about my health, not to mention huge amount of money spend on cigarettes, smoking 1.5 pack a day.
Now, I was very reluctant. It seemed to me like some weird device for hipsters. But my wife kept pushing, and finally I said - FINE, I'll stop by the shop and try it. So I went to a market which had a stand with e-cigarettes (there were like 2 or 3 of those in my city back then) and I bought my first set. The brand won't tell anything to anyone, because it was Polish brand, but this was basically rebranded Joyetech Ego-T. It costed a small fortune. .......n was it expensive.
Anyway, I tried it and... I smoked maybe 20 cigarettes since then? Ah, it wasn't great. By today's standards, it was truly horrible vape. My lungs and throat weren't ready, I felt like suffocating while vaping, I had sore throat. Tanks leaked like crazy, airflow was incredibly ....ty, like 200mAh battery or something. But still, maybe it wasn't great but it was interesting. Very soon I discovered forums in my country and whole community based around vaping (in that time it was called "e-smoking"). Then I began to shop online and I went through Ego-C, CE3, CE4, CE5 clearomizers, cartomizers - these were the best - there were two companies that were making those that were available in my country - Smok and Boge. Smok ones were ....ty, Boge ones were usually pretty good. Then someone invented "liquinator". Many old time vapers probably remember this. First it was made from cut syringe, then China companies began to sell it. One would punch a hole in cartomizer and insert it to liquinator - a precursor of more modern tanks. Well then drippnig atomizers, Vivi Novas, then "genisis style" atomizers which no one could force to work well but everyone tried. And on "power" side things there was also improvements. First Variable Voltage mods - everyone in my country wanted Provari so bad, but it was expensive like hell and had to be shipped across the ocean. But soon enough Chunese based companies came with their own Lavatube which turned into Lambo which turned into Vamo. But eventually "box" style mods won somehow, even though "pipe" mods were all the rage.
Good times. Anyway, I don't know why I'm writing all this, just getting a walk in memory lane I guess. Anyway, I almost immediately switched from smoking 1,5-2 packs a day to just vaping. And 12 years later I am still here - vaping like there's no tomorrow.
I was always a type that finds his own equipment and sticks to it. So after initial months I settled on liquinator. But then few 2-3 years after cartomizers dissapeared from the market. So I switched to Kangertech Subtank Mini and I used that exclusively from 2015 to 2020. Then it broke so I randomly bought Kylin M, and used that from 2020 to 2023. And then I even more randomly reignited my passion, and in a span of 3 months I bought a crap ton of equipment. Like 12 RTA's, 10 RDA's, three mods, loads of wire, cotton and aromas (I make my own juice for years). Just like that. I discovered squonking and I can only be mad I myself that I discovered it only now when it already fell out of popularity, because it is AWESOME.
So yeah, old time vaper, kinda low profile, reignited a passion in last months. This forums have unbelievable amounts of knowledge, so here I am
