i got given a battered plato aspire and liked that you can sub ohm and also use as an ecig at 1.8 ohm.
I since brought a smok al85 with a baby beast tank, and an aspire cf sub ohm i love the smok for sub ohm but want a good tank (the eleaf gs air i brought for it leaks everywhere)to fit the mod which will take higher res coils,eg 1.5 ohm for when i switch between making clouds and using as a cig replacement, any thoughts from experienced vapers would be appreciated

You don't necessarily need a 1.5-1.8 ohm coil to MTL.
Joyetech BF 0.6ohm (AIO/Cubis) works at 16 watts. Better than BVC or Air coils.
Also available from China. Much cheaper than the Joyetech mafia in domestic markets. $1 each.
thanks for the info, had a look at the cubis atomizer,do you know if it will fit my smok al85 body ?

between here and there
These days all atomizers are geared to work on just about any mod. So yes it will fit if diameter of tank is 23mm or less. Just read reviews before deciding which atomizer/tank to buy. There are several to choose from. I use eleaf's Melo 2 and 3. They come with 0.50 and 0.30 ohm stock coils. I usually run them around 12- 15 ish watts. Depends on flavors I am using.

:)

Something I've learned: I have a Kanger Subvod, it comes standard .5 ohm SSOCC coils. Because of the airflow, you can DL or MTL with the same coils. So as long as you have a tank with adjustable airflow, wattage around 20-60 watts, and a coil resistance between around .5 to .8, you can use the same tank for DL or MTL.

Welcome and glad you joined. Some folks have had some success by filling tank up just past half way.
I like your approach to vaping. Have fun, but have a fall back idea for everyday use.

For alt. choice of tanks:

Why Kayfun?

The Nautilus 2 has gotten rave reviews from some friends I do not own one yet but it is on my wish list!
i may have to go for it then, one day i will save some money from this ecig journey, trying to get off my 40 a day habit, cut down to 15-20 in the last 3 weeks ,but spent a lot on liquids, modbox, coils and a sub-ohm stick ,+ a leaky clearomiser ...made some ejuice but got the ratios wrong for sub-ohm so need a decent mtl..

Even with how much Vape Mail I get I doubt I will ever be able to spend on vaping what I burned up smoking. Still have the first MOD and Tank which was one weeks worth of smokes.
i know i will save loads,i'm happy to spend out now and save later, just want to get a good kit together , i've watched so many youtube reviews my head hurts ...i would love to find a single mod with two tanks with different coils in and a simple way of changing between the tanks....a bit like a dual sim phone..i might build one myself one day ..

Although I do have a few MOD's I hardly remove the tanks they still come off. Like the Aster RT22 it isn't really easy to remove and I only tank it off if I spill some e-Liquid refilling it. I hate a sticky MOD.

Built in Battery and a TC Sub Ohm Tank the Melo RT22

thanks Steve,i was just looking at the Aspire Nautilus 2 Sub-Ohm Tank online ..any good for my smok al 85 ?
I've seen a lot of pics of the Nautilus 2 on Pico mods and they look great. The AL 85 is basically the same body as the Pico... I've had the Nautilus mini for years... the N2 takes all the same coils.. 7 diff types... from .7ohm to 1.8ohms. Sure to find one that you will like.
