A bit about me and my impressions of moving from analogs to digital.

I started smoking a bit later than most people whom generally start. I was 18 at the time and had lived with a smoker (my mother) all of my life. I was indifferent to it as it was everywhere and I had no appeal or feign from it. I started the summer I was off to college and continued to smoke between 1 to 2 packs a day for the past 12 years. Smoking, design, and art in general went hand in hand. I remember many late nights taking a smoke break and have 2 or 3 cigs while waiting for prints/pigment/paint to dry or any of the other random materials I decided to work in that day.

That is up until 3 weeks and 3 days ago. I had heard about E-cigs previously and my mother even got one after smoking from a much earlier age than I until present (I don't remember the type and she didn't stick with it). Some of this information was positive some negative. That is until I decided to dig in and find out a lot about this alternative. Previously I had tried the other cessation aids and had negative results so this was worth a try.

About 5 weeks ago I had stopped at the gas station and saw the ad for the $19 E-cigs they were selling. I had some free time while waiting for approval on designs at work so I did a few searches. Fortunately I came to this site and was able to form a few conclusions. If this felt like real smoke and I could still practice the oral habit I had developed over the years then getting rid of the 4000+ chemicals in analogs would be a boon. I then read through several reviews and watched several videos surrounding the multitude of devices and how to use, service and clean them. The next day (Tuesday) I purchased the device and received it on Saturday from PureSmoker.

I had purchased the prodigy v3.1 and have been very pleased ever since. I have in the past tried the "disposable" E-cigs and they were truly garbage, but I won't get into that. There have been numerous people that have asked all about this device and what it is etc. I usually refer them to this website and tell them to read about it for themselves after giving them a brief explanation. I have also gotten 3 other people to make the switch and they're all pleased as well (not all the same model of E-cig however due to personal tastes).

So Hi All and THANKS for the great information!

Welcome to ECF, warloc! Congrats on dropping the analogs! It's great that you got to do some research before making the switch! I wish I had, but I'm still tickled to have converted.

I can't understand wanting a bottom button model, but this community has definitely shown me everyone has their own tastes. Of course, in the beginning (like most newbs), I thought there was never going to be a day that I would want any PV other than a cig sized/shaped one. I never thought I would enjoy vaping dessert flavors, either! lol! Live and learn and grow. :p I know you will enjoy the benefits of vaping and wish you tonnes of success! :D

Thanks QBass! Yes, I already love it and have noticed overall I feel much better! I chose the bottom model because I didn't want something that felt entirely like a cig due to vaping in the office. Additionally, it was a matter of changing out batteries and being able to get a higher voltage PV. The kicker was the locking button and full serviceability of this model as everything can be replaced easily.

@Renzuli Thanks for the welcome! I have already talked to her about this and she's on the fence. Hopefully I will visit NJ shortly and can have her try mine out. I think she is just stubborn. She had ordered a 6 month supply of carts for her old one. I know she said the main thing is forgetting to recharge it :( so she just has an analog.

@Beans Thanks Beans!

@Spazmelda Thanks Spaz.

Btw, I was lucky and have already been regaining my taste as well as sense of smell (not so lucky as I work with some eccentric large developers/programmers...). I just recently found a new taste for mellow and sweet tastes. This forum and site have truly been the best source for information overall. Also I do have to plug PureSmoker again as they were answered my questions quickly and efficiently and were able to help steer me into what I would need for a month initially. This was during the time of the owner's wedding...
