I've vaped previously with ego based equipment and did not succeed in quitting smoking. I stepped up to an eleaf istick basic and finally quit after 35 years at 1-2 packs a day.
Its been 35 days now with no tobacco. The eleaf has been a bit of a headache for me. My coils start tasting awful in a day or two using only Ry80. I switched out the clearomizer to a cheep evod and it seems to work better.
About 2 weeks ago there were no coils available locally and all of mine were jammed up. So I built a mech mod and RDA out of spare electrical parts and a ryobi battery pack. I pulled the coils out of the atomizers and used those after checking ohms (1.5 generally). It works well enough but is kinda scary to use. And yes it is inherently unsafe. I had to build a battery charger as well. That runs at 350ma and 5.2 volts and has a high temp cut off at 70°c. I monitor my battery charger RELIGEOUSLY. By the way, I'm a highly experienced electric and mechanical technician.
I finally found a way to get gear shipped here so come mid August I'll have a brocly mech mod, mutation xv4 rda, 4 Sony vt3s, a no record i4 charger, kanthal wire and a coil tool kit
I'm currently engaged in sailing a boat around the world. I'm in Roatan Honduras until November then on to Panama. So I'll be talking about the struggles of vaping around the world over the next five years.
