Hello there! My name is Marcelo and I have just started vaping, initially because I’m a heavy smoker and cigarettes are getting pricey, secondly because I found that I love it! I have one ....ty mechanical set with an unbuildable crappy atomizer. I live in Brazil and in here either the start kit prices are way too high or you can’t find what you need. To import from China is a pain in the ... with customs. So I have someone coming to Brazil from Canada and there the prices are fair. I have one shot to buy two mods and two atomizers that fit my needs. My budget is about $350.00 Can you please help me out?

First, I’ve decided that I’m going to start building my own coils. It’s just too expensive to buy coil-heads in Brazil and the laws are getting tight about e-cigs.

I’m going to buy two sets. The first needs to be a fairly small set (mod and atomizer) for my every day needs (I’m a heavy smoker). It has to have long lasting batteries so I can go all day without charging and the atomizer cannot leak in my pocket or my backpack. About the atomizer, I really don’t know what to get. It has to be RBA and cannot leak. It doesn’t have to be super powerful, only convenient (if it doesn’t drain e-juice, floods or get spit-backs even better). I’m thinking about the KangerTech TOPTANK Mini. The other set is for fun. To enjoy flavor, it doesn’t have to be so mobile. It has to be powerful and with all the features. So I’m thinking about the SMOK G-PRIV 220W TOUCH SCREEN. Is it fit for what I want? For the atomizer, I’m thinking about the Avocado 24mm bottom airflow. It has also great reviews. Agreed? What are your thoughts?

First set for every day use:

What do you guys think about this set: Joyetech VTwo 5000mAh + KangerTech TOPTANK Mini?

A cheaper option would be a KANGER TOPBOX MINI 75W TC KIT, which consists in a Kbox Mini 75W TC Mod and the TopTank Mini 4mL Tank. Is this a better option? Even though it doesn’t come with the battery? Do a single 18650 battery lasts an entire day or probably I’ll have to change it at some point? (I know it all depends on a lot of factors) But overall, what do you guys think? Any other models you think it’s best?

Second set for fun:

What do you guys think about this set: SMOK G-PRIV 220W TOUCH SCREEN + AVOCADO 24MM BOTTOM AIRFLOW. I loved the mod because of its touchscreen, it has all the power and options and comes with the batteries. About the Avocado atomizer, it seems to be very easy to built on its deck, all the reviews are solid good… What do you guys think? Any suggestions?

Thank you so much!

Best regards,
Marcelo

Welcome to the forums.

As far as tanks, I have no experience with the top tank. So I can't say yes or no. I do have a goblin and a griffin rebuildable, and those can be leak free if you build them right. With all rebuildables, there is a learning curve, and you will probably get a leaky tank or dry hits... It takes patience, but it's well worth learning. Perhaps a good alternative is to get an atomizer that has replaceable rebuildable decks. That way, you can keep a few builds on the side, and build several decks on your free time when you have the chance.

As far as the mods, you seem to be interested in touch screen. Although I don't have one myself, I don't think it's something I'd like. Looking at my cell phones, I'd say the touch screens would be prone to scratches. I haven't seen any screen protectors for mods yet, so I have a feeling that the screen would get scratched fairly easy. Also, it's just another feature to drain the battery faster, and changing the settings in the middle of the day in bright light might be harder than just hitting buttons. So, it's more of a gimmick in my eyes.

What mods would I recommend that would last you the whole day? Well, that all depends on how you vape. So far, the only two mods that have lasted a full year of heavy vaping besides mechanicals have been the Vamo V3, Releaux RX200, and the Sigeli 100. All the others I've had eventually die for one reason or another, but mostly relating to the 510 connector. I have a feeling that the spring portion of the "spring loaded 510" leaves a tiny gap in the center pin that over time, juice will get in there. That's just my theory, but I am trying something to get rid of that problem.

Currently, I am using the Releaux RX200, Eleaf Aster which I just got two days ago, and the Smok Guardian III Epipe. The RX200 is not very pocketable, neither is the Epipe. The Aster seems to be built well, but this is only day three, so I cannot say for sure. I am still looking for a good two battery mod, and I think it's down to the Sigeli Fuchai, or the Releaux RX2/3 (in 2 mode). This is just based on my experiences. It'll be after Christmas until I get one.

Once you get your mod, you might want to look at ordering a backup immediately. I don't know what kind of problems you get through customs, but you could try ordering a few cheap mods to see if/how they get through customs. The biggest problem I've noticed with ordering online, is not the mods, but the batteries. The shipping companies are starting to refuse to ship lithium ion batteries due to their danger. So when you order batteries, order big. For that reason, I suggest you get something that takes 18650's or 26650's, and order some replacements. There's a whole slew of advice on batteries, but look for Mooch's battery recommendations, and order ONLY from reputable companies. Get a good charger, and you should be set for a long time. I am currently on year three with the battery charger, and some of my batteries are over a year and a half old (time for me to replace them soon)

Sorry, there's a whole lot of info here, but everything I've said is just based on my experiences. I'm sure others will chime in... and probably with much shorter answers. :) good luck and happy vaping.

I think the Kanger option is a good one. Reason being is that it can be used with their factory coils or you can learn to build on the rba deck that comes with the kit. Best of both worlds. And top fill is the easiest. You do have to supply the 18650 batteries so I would suggest getting a least a couple so while one is charging you can use the other one.
The Smok G-PRIV is a nice set up. Just got one myself and is super easy to use. I also have the Smok Alien 220 mod. G-PRIV is larger and heavier than the Alien, so depending on what size of topper you want can help you decide. I currently have a Tobeco Super Tank(25mm) on the G-PRIV and it looks and vapes great. On the Alien I have a Starre Pure tank on one and a melo 2 on the other. Both are super easy to use and hold enough ejuice for more than a days worth. But they are both used with factory coils. The melo ecr coil is also available to purchase for the melo's and you rebuild them(super easy to do) when needed.

There are lots of options available. Sorry I don't have any experience with the Avocado but have read great reviews on them.

Good luck and let us know.
:)

If this is a 'for Real' one time shot.
Don't buy a mid line Kanger.
No, a single 18650 will not last all day at 40 watts & above.

Since you have a $350 budget.......
A throttled down DNA 200, will pull about 133 watts. Will require 2 18650 cells. Several models out there.
An unregulated dual parallel mod. With variable voltage. Raptor maybe.

A ' no leak' atomizer. Tough one. I've been using a Crius OBS for a few weeks & can't make it leak. Excellent balance with Flavor & plums.

An RDA,, the 24 mm Goon.

Be advised, steep learning curve.

The above would be my "bug out" kit if things were to get Dicey..

Hi Marcelo from Greece. Budget are always a big problem. So my suggestions are.

Mod suggestions
A. Therion DNA 75 from lost vape cuboid or minikin.
B. Asmodus mods are pretty decent I use pretty often an Ohmsmium 80W and a Snowwolf both have been very reliable and really taff cookies.

As for atty's +1 for the Goon and I agree with the difficulty level mentioned by Daviedog but it's a nice choise. Also the avocado you mention can do and for the money it's... tempting. You can have a look and for the atmistique's madness a little bit strange suggestion but it's an undiscovered diamond. If you are looking for a leak proof atty there are many factors to consider keep in mind that most of the leaking issues are normal results of user bad handling or wrong setups. I am sure you can find plenty of info about how to avoid them here. My second choise would be an aspire Cleito with the RTA system. If we are talking for a low budget. Also goblin can cut the deal and if you can find any Kayfun lite plus I strongly recommend it. It's a mouth to lag atty but really good. Hope that I helped and please before you buy anything try to test it hope there are some vape stores at your area that you can see or try mods and attys first hand. The most common mistake most begginers do (I did it too) is to buy equipment they don't really need or don't "fit" them.

Welcome and glad you joined. All you need is a mod, atomizer and juice. Eleaf Istick 40W TC with a magma RDA can give you the best flavor out there, for a small cost (under $40) initially and on going.
What works for me: In a RDA, building a single coil at 2 ohms (32ga. ~4wrap spaced) and run around 6 w. --Rayon wicks work well 30/70VG.

KANGER TOPBOX MINI 75W TC KIT
is by far the better choice. All you have to replace is the battery about once every year or year and a half. Buy ONLY sony, lg or samsung 18650 HIGH DRAIN batteries. LG HG2 (BEST- 20A continuous discharge 3000Mah) will give the longest time between charges. Samsung 25Rs are probably 2nd best (20A, 2500Mah)
NEVER use cheap rebranded batteries. The 3 brands I listed have been tested fully and even a regulated mod can fail. (protection circuit failure or 510 pin breaks and causes a short), either way, those batteries will vent out long before they blow up. Worst case, they vent and acid gets on the stuff in your backpack, but they will not catch fire or explode. (safe bet is to get a couple latex rubber battery sleeves and put your batteries in those when you have to carry your mod in your backpack.. no battery in mod = 0 risk.)

$1.12 Iwodevape 18650 Battery Silicone Protective Gel Skin Case Cover - authentic at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping They cost about $1.12 US each.

I am still using my kanger toptank mini. Just a couple things.. make sure the airflow is OFF while filling. Prime your wick when starting a new wick and start at the lower power settings and work up. 22 to 32watts is usually a decent range. I normally stick to 28 to 30w.
This should also come with an RBA mini, that you can rebuild. You can find videos on youtube or message me and I have a couple on my own channel. (nothing fancy but really easy to follow.. lol.. made them for my brother to show him how to...)

Well intend to use.. or to make, when ill get to DIY juices the same pg/vg ratio, at least.. thanks for advice, ill try when ill get the mod

Sent from my C6802 using Tapatalk
I mainly use drippers now, so my diy is near 100VG. Just whatever PG happens to be in the nicotine. I might add a little pg sometimes. lol still have about 400ml of 500ml bottle I bought, but on my 3rd bottle of VG. (I likes the clouds.. lol)
Oddly... when I do cloud chasing builds and practice, I use only 100%vg no flavor or nic. (I MIGHT add 1/4ml sweetener per 50ml VG... just to take the "blah" off.) lol.

Well, on the RBA, using a 0.5 ohm coil, below 20w is useless, above 33w risks burning the wick. Your sweet spot will probably be different from mine, but I like 28-30w, and I use 20/80 ejuice.
Sry but not true when running lower vg ejuice. I am running a .05 ohm rba on a kbox mini @ just under 10W. my juice is 50/50. Plenty of flavor and decent amt of vapor.

Well if you like thin clouds and weak flavor, that is fine. I am guessing that you meant 0.5 ohm.
Even if you were using 5 wraps of 28ga stainless steel, 10w is going to be a very cool vape. 4 wraps of 29ga would be a bit warmer, but not great clouds or flavor. Of course I can build a cigalike coil build, running 7 to 10w, but when you have a tank that will give better flavor and clouds.. you build to that. 50/50 juice is fine for a pen style with small juice holes in the coil, but for most actual tanks, most people find 50/50 to harsh. 30/70 is about avg.
To be quite honest, at 10w, with juice that thin, I can't figure how you are evaporating it fast enough to keep it from running up the chimney or out the air holes. The juice holes on that rba must be tiny.

It is the standard rba that comes in the subtank mini. The size of the juice holes are not tiny. And the flavor is better than the standard stock coil that comes with. I don't chase clouds, but as I said the vapor is decent. I prefer a cooler vape, I want to taste my juice not have it so hot as to not enjoy it. To each their own as they say. Isn't it great that I can do it my way and you can do it your way too and we both stay away from the stinkies. More than one way to do that with vaping, which was/is my whole point.

Yep. For sure.
I tend to stick to general settings unless I have specific factors to consider. I find I get a better flavor from a slightly warmer vape. But I like spicy foods too. lol hotter the better.. I probably cooked my taste buds years ago on that Chinese fermented chili paste my moms friend used to bring from hong kong. LOL..
