Hello everyone...My first post here.
First of all, I want to thank all of you for what is an amazing site and an unbelievable wealth of information.
I knew very little about this whole e-cig thing (not that I'm a pro now...far from it), so I hung around here and almost every question I had was answered without even having to join.
I bought a Joye 510 started kit just because I didn't want to invest a whole lot of money initially, thinking in the back of my mind that I'm going to fail again anyway at trying to get off my 2 pack a day habit of analogs, just like I did with the gum, the patches, the pills...well, you get the idea. Nice attitude, eh? And I don't even want to say how many years I've been smoking...it scares me just to think about it.

Anyway, wow! Was I ever wrong! This is the best thing since sliced bread! I haven't had a single Marlboro cancerette in 2 weeks and 2 days. (Yes, I'm counting)
If I have a problem at all, it's that I can't put this thing down! (I've since bought an eGo battery to go along with my 510 kit/Cartos/attys, etc, just because I got a little tired of charging batteries so often).
I don't "smoke" this like I did the analogs. Rather, I'll have a few hits, put it down, and then pick it up a few minutes later and do the same thing again over and over....ALL day long.

Did many of you find this to be the case when you first started vaping? I almost feel like I'm replacing one addiction with another, even though I know I'm a whole lot better off...in fact my breathing had already improved a great deal, and I'm not coughing my brains out in the morning anymore.
I've also been going nuts with juices, accessories, etc in just a couple of weeks, and I can see my OCD kicking in with this new "habit" already. lol!
Anyway, I'm hoping at some point I can lower my Nic levels...(I'm using 24mg now, and it feels "good"), and also get to a point where I may actually be able to wait an hour before I pick up my PV instead of every minute of the entire day. 8-o
Mostly, I wanted to introduce myself and finally join, as I'm sure I'll have some direct questions in the future, and this site has helped me so much already that I felt the need to join.

Thanks again folks for all the help you've given me already without even knowing it.
Regards,
thenut (By the way, and you'll probably see eventually, that they don't call me "thenut" for nothing.

You are in good company! I was a chain smoker and I guess you would say I'm a chain vaper also. I don't worry about it too much though. My understanding is that the nicotine is absorbed differently when you vape which is partly why you tend to do it more. Also I think the nicotine gets out of your system quicker. I used to be able to go 4-5 hours before I'd start jonesing for a nicotine hit. Now a couple hours seems to be max for me. The good thing is you can sneak it if you are somewhere where you can't smoke.

I know a lot of people that have reduced their nic levels. If that is what you want to do you probably won't have a problem with it. I do 18mg and am just fine with that.

Good luck.

I'm new also and maybe everyone is replacing one habit with another, but that is not why they switch. They switch to get away from the smell, the health problems, etc. Many eventually draw down on their nic levels, many quit, and many just press on doing something that they enjoy...

I was introduced to this e-cig thing by a few friends that had switched. They let me sample theirs and I started procrastinating and finally bought my own. Two people I know used these to quit (one was able to quit within 6 months after smoking for over 15 years and trying to quit for 4 years). Two still vape, but with low nic levels now (one plans on going to zero nic and then seeing from there - she likes it).

Hello and welcome, one habit for another perhaps but I and many others find the nicotine in this form is much less an addiction. I can and have gone several hours or even a full day without vaping and do not have the crazy, give me a smoke or I will kill something, cravings that I got with analogs.

The ego is a great step in the right direction IMO. I have stopped at this style for now (Kgo 1100Mah).

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your success! It certainly does take one by surprise, absolutely no doubt about that. Although I'd failed at every other method I'd used to try and quit smoking (and quite spectacularly at that), I didn't really form any opinion one way or the other on E-cigs. But I'm a techhead, love gadgets, know technology quite well and after researching thought that this really might be able to work since even before trying it I could tell it ticked most of the boxes I thought at the time were critical to being able to replace analogs as a smoking alternative. But still there were some questions only personal experience could answer, so I jumped in. And wow. Damn if they didn't work better than I ever thought they could.

It's no surprise you're hitting it constantly throughout the day though. For most there's that "honeymoon" period where you're enjoying the hell out of it and still in thrall over the fact that you're not smoking any more (or for some have cut down significantly and far more than you ever thought you could). But eventually you'll fall into your own particular rhythm. For me, my rhythm is much like yours is now; just vape whenever I feel the desire. I vaped 24mg for quite some time too, but necessity (and hardware upgrades that massively increased vapor production and therefore nicotine intake) demanded I drop that. Now I'm at 12mg and quite happy with that, though I need to drop it further -- I just can't do that without throat hit boosters, which I am currently evaluating.

Good choice on the eGo too. I think most of us have at least one eGo kit in our arsenal. (I've got 3 kits, 6 batteries total, plus a mod.) They're simply great little workhorses.

I also am new to this (sorta) ive tried regular e-cigs of various brands that didnt vape well at all, but now with the stuff available today, i can see clouds of vapor (no pun intended) all the time. I am vaping as a safer less strenuous way to quit the unhealthy analogs, and maybe in time, quit everything altogether. Vaping is much safer, and can vape wherever i wish. Ive tried it all.... pills cold turkey hypnosis .......... none of it worked for any length of time..... vaping has done wonders, and keeps the urge under control....... hopefully in time dropping back the nic levels slowly will get me down to 0 and vape for pleasure........ I use the ego Tank Battery and the huge dual coil cartomizer from cov, untill i start modding. The information here is unbelievable, and the people are knowledgeable. if you dont see it here, its not out there. My goal is to vape all day without refilling or recharging..... or even longer

I didn't get a chance to thank you other folks who replied to my very first post today. It's also amazing to see how fast my thread disappeared, and how many new members are appearing by the minute.
I'm like a kid in a candy store in this place with so much information to read, and so many different forums to discover. (Which, as I mentioned earlier, I've been doing for a couple of weeks before I joined).
Anyway, thanks again folks..and congrats to others who have recently made the switch to vaping as well.

And thanks to Brewlady for the link to the New England forum, and the invite...I've been to Worcester many times. Ya just never know...maybe I'll see you there one day. ;)

Oh, and sorry to bump my fading thread up (been gone since this morning and only recently checked in). Not to worry.....I'll let me fade away now.
See you all in a different thread some time. :)

Well, when I married my bride, I, also, switched one habit for another! With my recent vaping conversion, that's twice. In both cases, I'm a happy camper... The former for 42 years and the latter after 46.
