Wow, thanks for all the responses. I got an email saying someone had answered and clicked the link... not expecting a welcoming party! It's good to have reassurance there are still amiable human beings on the planet.

I suppose it was the 15 watt power max that was under question when considering a new tank, but I'll check out the VMax thread as advised and do a little more research in response to the issues that have been raised, but think I'll probably look elsewhere for a suitable product. I'm also considering a Kayfun Lite Plus, but will sniff the air first to see if it's entirely compatible.

I bought an Aspire Nautilus about a year ago in belief of the advertising blurp, and discovered the cons of short coil life and the hassles of re-building them later on, along with the many dissident voices.

I'm happy enough with my ZMax for now, but I'm sure will ramp up the available power in good time.

Thanks again for the responses, sound advice and hearty welcome, folks. I realise this is an intro thread, so I'll catch you later in another discussion.

Cheers,

Bill.

Just to update you guys, my better half being influenced by my subtle hints, she was successfully prompted to ask what I wanted for my birthday.

"A Sigelei Fuchai." was my reply, as I want to upgrade, but also because, with proper Scots pronunciation, the name has such a wonderful ring to it. To pass the time until May, and to congratulate myself on a successful sting operation, I've bought myself a Kayfun Five Pawns tank and don't think I'll ever look back!

Don't you think I deserve a pat on the back?
