Hi, I'm a newbie to e-cigs, and unlike many of you, I'm OLD (62 yrs), and had been smoking tobacco for over 40 years. I got a Joye eGo, and like it well for the amount of vapor produced and the "throat hit", but the flavor is definitely lacking. I'm refilling cartridges with Totally Wicked's "camel" flavored 36mg liquid. Have ordered some RY-4 flavoring, and gotten some USP Glycerin to cut the 36mg liquid and flavor it. It's quite a learning curve, and I've got lots left to learn. As usual with a new thing, there's a whole new "jargon" of terms to learn and master. It's confusing, since many ecigs are the same but go under several different names (Joye eGo, Tornado, Dura, etc., just for my own stick). And I still don't know the difference between an atomizer, cartomizer, and cartridge. Oh, well, I'll learn in time.

Welcome! I understand what you are saying. It is definitely a lot of information and takes a while to feel like you have a good grasp on things. It sounds like you are well on your way.
Cartomizers are atomizers and cartridges in one. They have more capacity for liquid but I have heard the atomizers don't last quite as long.
Atomizers are the little thing that screws into the battery with the wick inside. This is what heats up when it comes in contact with the battery and makes teh vapor from your liquid.
Cartridges are the plastic thing on the end of your ego with the filler inside. This is where you put your juice.

Good luck to you:)

As one 'old' newbie to another (I am 50_ and smoked for 30 years), I agree that all of the new terms are confusing. However, i found the thread at the top of the list very helpful (i don't know how to post a link, but the title is "I made some videos for newbies..")... He/She even had links to other videos about care and maintenance that helped. Congrads!

Ron,

I hear you. Flavor can leave alot to be desired if youre looking for a good tobacco flavor. I would suggest you check out some other non tobacco flavors as well. All my favorite flavors are from Tasty Vapor. The Tastyfinger tastes just like a butterfinger or reeses peanut butter cup and Ive been vaping it non stop since Friday. Atomic Cinnacide is Big Red gum and awesome! And if you're looking for a good tobacco flavor check out Backwoods Brew. I haven't tried backwoods brew myself ( yet ) but everyone who tries it just raves about it.

Also if you see words underlined like the two words above. Hover your cursor over them and the forum will put a definition up for you. It really helped me out when I learned that nifty little trick.

You'd be surprised, there are plenty of "old-timers" here at the forum. In fact, e-cigs tend to turn most of the young'uns off pretty quick. I think the average age is close to or in their 40's, with more folks being older than that rather than younger. Just ask if you have any questions, we're all here for the same reasons.

hey man, you ain't old... LOL 63 here and just got into this as well. I have the eGo and love it. I drip tho... the carts are a PIA as far as I'm concerned. If your looking for a great 'Morning Startup' try Sunrise from FreedomSmokeUSA. Also, I like their Thin Mint Cookie - taste just like the Girl Scout Cookies. David sells the Drip Tips for the eGo as well.

Welcome ronlitton!
You are not to far past me in age or number of years smokeing analogs (jargon for cigaretts). I am 56 and I had smoked for 39 years. This has been a miracle for me, my health and my 36 year marriage, as my other half quit 2 years ago. He is VERY pleased that I found e-cigs. HA HA Welcome and enjoy crusing this site. By the way 60 is not old!!!
