Firstly, thanks for such a great informative place, been reading through forum for a long while before deciding to take the plunge and buy a 901 and classic from e-cig uk, fantastic quick service from them.
Ive been a hardcore smoker for 35 years, and my addiction is so strong that I am still smoking even though I have cancer (not lung).tried all the usual smoking cessation methods but I know that I really, really must give up,so when I saw the e-cig I thought maybe this would be the thing that would eventually cut out my 40-50 a day habit.
Trouble is, for me it would have to come close to actual smoking and so far, my experience with my purchased e-cigs has been disaapointing, mostly due to the taste.
At the moment I am getting vapour production from my two cigs, but on trying the different carts I got with the cigs, they are all so sweet and sickly, even the supposedly cig like ones.So I ordered e-liquid and glycerine to hopefully tailor my own taste,I got 555,french pipe tobacco, and hilton, but still they taste so sweet and sickly, what am I doing wrong? Or am I expecting to much.
Maybe e-cigs are not supposed to taste in any way similar to cigs and until I come to that realisation I'm not going to succeed?
You guys who mix up your own juice concoctions, do you mix your juices with the glycerine before adding to cartridge or do you just add them seperately direct to cartridge?

HI,
Congratulations and don't worry. E-cigs at first don't taste anything like real ones, you will get used to them, honest:) If you are still smoking real ones it's going to take a bit longer. I had a similar habit to yours and for two weeks I used both, one day the weather was so bad I couldn't be bothered going out for fags and just decided to use the e-cig. I haven't looked back since that day, more than a month ago.

Give it time and your taste buds should adapt.

Good Luck

I've done it both ways. Normally I mix eliquid and glycerine 50/50 in a glass eyedropper bottle. It's then easy to dispense. As well as topping up your cartridges have you tried a drop directly on the atomiser?

The sweetness is a bit more of a problem The glycerine does make the vapour sweet. I find that there's lots of bite to Totally Wicked's "Cigar" liquid which hides the sweetness for me a bit - but then I like sweetness. The Marlboro flavour is very sweet so I'd avoid that if I were you.

If the problem you are having is that the juice is too sweet, then Glycerine is not the answer you are looking for. It will mask other flavours and is sweet in itself.

I have to agree with Pete, your tastebuds adapt and the sooner you stop with normal cigs the faster the adaption comes.

Thanks for the replies all, it does seem i'm going to have to bite the bullet and just quit the hot cigs and go completley vapour and then i cant compare,I think I'm going to have to stay with he glycerine as I dont get enough vapour for my liking without it, so if glycerine equals sweetness i've just got to get used to it until someone brings out an e-cig that produces masses of vapour without needing glycerine and doesnt cost the earth and is reliable and doesnt involve me sending parts back for replacement,oh well , i can hope! ha ha, thanks for the tips regarding mixing juices, ive just read somewhere here that its not a good idea to get the juice on your fingers as it can absorb through the skin,so i'll be getting a dropper bottle soon as i can get to the chemist and i'll put in an order for the TW cigar and give that a try, thanks

Nicotine does get absorbed through the skin, but unless you're painting a whole cartridge or a good chunk of a bottle over yourself, you shouldn't have any worries. Droppers certainly make things a lot easier, I picked up 10 from Boots.

I found adding Glycerol did give me a fair bit more vapour, but like you said, it's quite sweet and it also dilutes the kick. Using carts but also putting a drop or two directly onto the atomiser can help give you the best of both worlds. It's what I learn towards at the moment.

<troll>According to the hitman book, while nicotine is great for putting into hollowed out handgun rounds or injecting into the target, "Placing it directly on the skin has never gotten any results."</troll>

grenage,
did you get them from the pharmacy bit of boots? what did you say? I keep meaning to get some from somewhere, but don't know what to say if they ask me why I want them. I sound like a right twit, I know.

Hi SuziQ,

It's not a 'behind the counter' item, so it should be on the shelves. It's commonly used to relieve sore throats, so it will probably be by the cough medicine. :) It's also used for Christmas cakes in the icing (apparently), so there's an easy answer if you can't be bothered explaining that it's for an electronic cigarette ;)
