Hi,

I've been vaping now since April 5th 2013 with a couple of Ego-C units (one genuine, one clone) and some 'Holy Grail' dual coil i-clear tanks (1.5 ohm) but it's not really the 'perfect vape' I am looking for.
For convenience I have been shopping at 'it is vapor 2' in Oshkosh but their selections are limited, their own branded juices (generally 60PG/40VG) and Liqua are all they sell. Don't get me wrong, the flavors are ok (I'm a fan of Watermelon, Tiramisu, Waffle, French Pipe Tobacco) but the vapor quantity / quality isn't the best.

I made the decision to quit smoking and immediately ditched the cigarettes in April for the Vape and I have not looked back, but now I know I am not going to go back (I had to take a US driving test recently as I moved here from England and I was only allowed to drive on the UK license for 1 year and the stress prompted me to buy a pack of smokes, I smoked part of one and threw the rest away, the flavor I now find nauseating) it's time to upgrade my kit.

I'm looking for a better power source, preferably a variable one that with moderate vaping can last a couple of days, and a better tank system, preferably rebuildable with a high vapor production, I would also like to switch to making some of my own juices as I'm still exploring the flavor possibilities and with the high(ish) cost of juices at my local store I can make a batch of base fluid and just add the flavors as needed at a greatly reduced cost.

I know it's a lot to ask in a first post, but I'm enjoying the product and want to go further. (plus my wife is interested in taking up vaping but as a non-smoker she wants 0mg Nicotine which would double my current cost per flavor)

im new to vaping as well, only have a smok winder with 1.7 ohm cartos. I'm satisfied with my setup but not happy so im probably gonna upgrade this upcoming month. Im interested in a mechanical though; the smok magneto with an Igo w and a smok rsst.

Have you looked at the vamo or sigelei zmax v3. fairly cheap, variable voltage/wattage, and can take up to a 18650. haven't tried them myself but I've read a lot of good reviews on them as well the Igo l, igo w, and kanger protank.

Looking around I quite like the look of the Vamo V4, any pitfalls / problems with this setup? I quite like the idea of a direct coil read, especially if I am considering a rebuildable head for it... Also - tanks, wicks or wickless / foil setups for the best results?

In some ways there are more options than customizing a car, I'm out of my depth but would like to place an order sooner rather than later. I don't want to go local again for more refills when I start getting low on juices...

You'll eventually end up getting a mod (device that uses replaceable rechargeable batteries). Your choices will be unregulated (mechanical mod) or regulated (variable voltage/wattage). These work out to be more economical over the long term, but will be a larger investment at time of purchase. As opposed to an ego battery that costs anywhere from $20 - $30 each and will only last a several months, the replaceable batteries only cost $6 - $10 each and will last over a year or more.

Juice delivery devices fall into two classes depending upon their juice wicking method - polyfill or silica string wicks.

So the Vamo V4 mod with a battery selection and charger would be a good start, from there, tank upgrades, I have the iclear 16 dual coil currently but would like something perhaps easier flowing with a high vapor production / rebuildable, I've been looking at the octopus but saw the Z-Atty Pro on a youtube video, the only things I dislike about the Z-Atty are the fill hole and the cost.

Thanks, I'm looking at the V4 which is a V3 in a V2 housing, so no swirls but you get the updated firmware and OLED screen, having said that I don't really dislike the V3 styling.

I don't dislike the iclear 16s but apart from limited juice capacity so far I've stripped the thread on one mouthpiece and managed to dislodge the tank on another a couple of times, plus they don't really produce enough vapor for me on an ego-c 1000mAH battery and I would ideally like one that's a bit more robust. Add to that an iclear 16 on the top of a Vamo would look like an afterthought.

Hello fellow Wisconsin vaper!

You seem to have an idea as to what you want. I'd agree with your consideration of a variable voltage/wattage device. As far as tanks and atomizes go, I like Kangertech protanks.

Liquids: big fan of pink spot vapers. I like there namesake juice called "pink spot" I choose to get it "ok the rocks" which means they add a little menthol to it.

Give it a try!

After some more research last night I'm still leaning towards the Vamo, but I think probably the V3 in black chrome with probably a Genisis convertible tank system on the top.

My thoughts - I am getting mixed results with the juices I have, a 'one size fits all' battery like the ego-c can't be adjusted for the 'sweet spot' which is going to vary depending on the juice used as much as the head therefore a mod would be the way to go. The Genisis would increase tank capacity and let me switch to a drip if I wanted to try new flavors without loading up a tank. One possible modification to the genisis would be to put a variable air hole into it. Something where the air flow could be adjusted to taste... Probably a slip collar would be ideal for that.

For the price, you can't go wrong with the Vamo. Plus you will have to buy new batteries and a charger to boot. The atomizer resistance reader is a great feature, particularly if you build your own coils. One word of caution, you may want to hold onto your ego batteries as the Vamo in 18650 mode is pretty big. Some people are cool with using a light saber at work, but I am not one of them.

I would caution you against choosing a genesis style atomizer as your first rebuild. I tried to start building gennys and after weeks of frustration, I gave up. I still havent been able to get a genesis to work with SS mesh, despite having successfully built a Kayfun and an Ithaka clone.

Hi Enignaxx
If you can travel to Appleton there is a great vape store 'Evapor of Appleton.' The owner Kenny goes out of his way to help people figure out their next step in Vaping and there is extensive inventory to select from. Are you aware of the 'Wisconsin Vapers Forum' (yes, vapers with an 'er') on Facebook? Good people there who are always willing to help. There is also a Vapor meet Sept 7 2-8pm in Appleton at the GameDay Sports Bar. We are expecting 60-100 people to attend. Hope you will join us

Thank you so much for this information. I live in Fond du Lac so I can't wait to go to that store and maybe even the meet. I used to vape from 2008 to 2010 with small batteries and the screw on cartomizers but without going into details, I ended up going back to regular cigarettes. I recently decided to buy a Vapor King kit with clearomizers a few weeks ago and refuse to go back to the real thing. This is even more satisfying than smoking, but I am not sure where to go from here really. I read the forums but am not sure what else I can hook up to this 510 battery or if I should buy something else. I really could use a way to try flavors without having to fill up a clearomizer all of the time. Very confusing though so something like this store and this meet is exactly what I was hoping to find.

Don't know if I can make the 7th, my wife's birthday is the 5th and she has a few days off so she probably has plans for us, I'll try to sweet-talk her into it though, I may take a drive to Appleton tomorrow or tuesday to take a look at Evapor, I found another one there called Kick's Vapor which I was thinking of visiting, I see FastTech has the Vamo V3 6 in 1 kit (1*E-Cigarette, 1*Battery Charger, 1*Atomizer, 2*18350 Batteries, 1*Extension Battery Cone) for under $50 so I know what ballpark pricing I should be looking at.

This is why I was looking at a dripping tip also, it would allow me to try flavors without having to fill a cart / clearomizer etc.

ACK! Don't buy the vamo from Fasttech. After buying 2 locally, I bought one on fasttech just for the experience. It arrived last week and was a clone, or more accurately, counterfeit. I could tell right out of the box it was a knock off and the threads on the head run so deep it chokes the atomizer. No air can get in. I'm try to arrange a return right now. Fasttech has its place, but get some experience behind you first ...and stay away from their vamo's

Noted... That said, if I have their price printed out I may be able to negotiate a deal on one elsewhere ;) you never know without trying.
