Can someone direct me to an informational sticky/post that breaks down RBAs and how the coils exactly work? I understand building them, and I can get them to thoroughly heat when pulsing, but like I mention, when I go to vape, it takes up to 20 seconds for the whole thing to glow.

Furthermore, how does one run a 1.2ohm coil at 6V? Everything I've read states that the power output should be around 8 watts. I don't understand how juice can taste good at anything over 12, let alone the 30 watts that would put out. What am I missing here?

I would go with a reo grand with a reomizer 2. I work a physically demanding job in the milirary as an aircraft electrician and its the only combination i trust to have on me at all times without breaking it. Rba's rda's are relativly easy once you get over a learning curve that'll take you a couple hours. Of all the 1000 dollars ive spent on vaping. My reo and reomizers are the only hardware i view worthwhile.
With 400 dollhairs in my budget, id purchace: reo grand 150.00, reomizer 45.00. And then go to fasttech.com and get some proper panasonic cgr18650ch batteries. 2 for 12.00, and some ncr18650pd batteries 14.00 with a nitecore i4 charger for 20.00. And massive amounts of wick. (Search wick on fasttech, i know it says its fiberglass. But its really silica).
Then pop by ebay and get some 100ft-250 ft rolls of kanthal a-1 to wrap your coils. 12.00-20.00.
Lets add it up. I believe thats under 300 dollhairs and the TOP of the line. You will be a diy coil wrapper in no time flat.
Spend the rest of your vape-allowance at vapesales.com and try the blueberry dream, cinnamon danish, and wait a mint. Also try mt baker vapors hawk sauce as well.

I forgot to mention. While on fasttech, pick up a multimeter. It is essential for rba's. They are not at all difficult to figure out. Youtube will show you everything you need to know about wrapping coils and using a multimeter. When wrapping your coils make sure you measure out approx 1 ohm when starting out, then as you learn more about electricity and your vape-gear in the process of vaping and proper coil wrapping, you might find you want to go lower.

Nono it should always touch the wick. It's more about amperage (and thus wattage) being relative to wire gauges and lengths.

I wrap by rolling 500ss mesh with a piece of silica within on my reomizer. The silica helps the wick stay saturated longer and the mesh (primary heating surface) tastes very clean with the coil directly touching the oxidized mesh
