Hello everyone, it's nice to find a proper dedicated vaping forum that isn't full of sales pitches!

I have a quick question, I vape VG and recently changed the coil, it didn't look like the one that I usually use (I neglected to take my box to the shop to ask them) and after letting it soak for a while, on exhale the vapour tastes like plastic instead of menthol cherry?

The coil fits perfectly regardless of it being different to what I usually use so I don't know what it could be, any help would be appreciated, thanks!:)

OKC, OK
Depending on what the coil ohms are, that could be a little high wattage, but shouldn't be that much of a problem. Could be a dud coil, it happens. You did prime it? On those coils, usually just allowing it to sit once installed for 5 min or so and a couple unpowered puffs after that will get it primed. High VG is a little issue with them though. I use the same, and have used that type coil, you have to be careful not to chain vape it too much, and slow draws, give it some time to wick thicker juice.

It really helps to prime the coil with liquid, don't be shy about it. Pour 3-4 Drops in there, not on the side.

Like another one said, High or Max VG liquids don't function well in tanks using coils with small juice holes
(where the juice gets sucked in to the heating element being the coil).
It's feasible but it's pretty tricky so unless you're really allergic to PG, I'd try sticking with the thinner liquids.

lol PG isn't plastic man :p

*It's used as a solvent in the plastic industry but it's safe to inhale.

Just go back to a thinner liquid, PG is actually the flavor carrier in e-liquid and creates the throat hit
that many ex-smokers crave. I started out with 50/50 liquid and it helped with my cravings.
It's also the best to use with the kind of set-up you have.

When you get deeper into vaping to chase the
clouds you'll find that more vapor production = higher VG so you want to cut off the PG to get less throat hit and also lower the nicotine content.
But that's another story.

Where the hell did I hear that then, I have alot to learn haha.

The funny thing is I don't even smoke, never smoked (apart from the usual thinking I was a rebel in my teens) I just like the vapour feel/flavour

Thanks for the help though guys, It's much appreciated

Raccoon is giving you great advice: priming is absolutely necessary. Some coils with cotton will not lose that nasty taste if it gets burned.

It's alright man, we all start somewhere and this is a great place to learn :p

If you have a shop in your area don't be shy and go ask them for advice too :p

Priming it? I've read about putting a couple of drops in the coil but didn't want to risk it, I've tried letting it sit and powered it a few times to draw some liquid in, I think I'm just being too cautious or I'm really clueless >.<

If it's any help it's an Eleaf?
Powering it won't do much to help prime the coil, though might cause a bad taste by over heating something and
causing a burnt taste. To prime drip a few drops directly into the coil head, let it sit for a few minutes, and take a few non powered draws, then try it out.

Since letting it sit in the liquid and after taking about 10 big puffs not inhaling, I think the flavour is coming through now so I think I might have gotten lucky this time, I'll be sure to properly prime from now on though!

In future when you put in a new coil, always good to go back down in wattage and work your way up.

Sometime fresh wick just needs some time to break in; like there may be air pockets in the wick even though it is wet and the air needs some time to work its way out.
