Hi everyone! I'm a 42 year old mom of two and currently attending college. I've just started using the eGo-c and I must say, I'm quite impressed. I've gone from a pack a day smoker (25 per day, Indian reserves) down to two which I usually have first thing in the morning. I joined this site for two reasons. The first is just to try and educate myself a bit more on e-cigs and the second is to try to find peer reviewed research on e-cigs (I plan on doing a presentation on e-cigs for a class project) I'm aware that Health Canada does not recommend the use of e-cigs and has not approved of e-cigs containing nicotine however I believe the first point has more to do with quality control and the second point, I suspect, is matter or lobbyists saving their own income. I do find myself puffing on my e-cig a little more often but the duration of my puffing is not that of a smoke. With a smoke, I'd smoke until I was finished but with the e-cig I can puff here and there as I please. If anyone could provide links to either within this forum or any sites where I might find some studies on e-cigs and their effects it would be greatly appreciated. (There is a TON of info here to sort through and yes i'm being a tad lazy by asking for links). Thanks for having me!

This is what I have. Need help with the terminology. What is the thing that holds the nicotine juice called? I can tell you that it has two long wicks inside of it. Oh and my bottle says, DKTab 18mg 70pg/30vg what does this mean? thanks HPIM1549.jpgHPIM1550.jpg

Hey there...

You're being blessed with my first post! :)

I've been vaping for a couple weeks and I too have cut down from a pack a day,
congrats on that! I'm currently using the cig-a-like with an ego in transit - which one
do you have, the twist?

Tank, carto, clearo?

Here are also some search tricks that you can use to find specfic things on the forum using
Google. (I personally hate using the inbuilt forum search)

Vaping Benefits
Studies

You can change the search term to fit what you're looking for.

The Health & Medical subforum also has a lot of information, studies, etc.

Welcome to ECF ma'am! Looks like you've got an eGo battery. (looks like a 650mAh to me) and the thing that you pour your juice into is that clear thing with the long wicks that suck up the juice. The pictures are blurry but it looks like a CE6 or something similar. (There are many different kinds of these, and you have a very good one! Congrats!) May I ask where you bought these and who helped you?

As for your juice... Your DK-TAB is a juice made in China. By the very 1st e-juice manufacturer. The company that makes DK-TAB is called "DEKANG" and they are a very well known e-juice company. If it scares you that the juice your using was made in china, don't be scared. Its good juice and a well known company. DK-Tab is actually my favorite Dekang Tobacco Flavor. It is a nutty caramel vanilla tobacco juice. (DK-TAB is very similar to 1 of the most popular flavored juices, called RY4.. Except DK-TAB is more nutty in flavor. Very good!) :) OK and your DK-TAB juice is 18mg. 18mg juice delivers about the same amount of nicotine as a cigarette would. Its a good mg of juice to start with. You may want to step down your mg (milligram) of nicotine slowly in the future.. But remember, the higher the mg, the more throat hit. I recommend you check out some of backwoodsbrew.com: The Leading Backwoods Brew Site on the Net juices, or Ms T's Bakery Essentials juices, or ELECTRONIC CIGARETTE / E CIGARETTES STARTER KITS AND E LIQUID NICOTINE FROM MOM AND POP for juices. You'll probably want to order 18mg juice if you like the 18mg DK-TAB. Maybe ask for a sample of 11 or 12mg juice in the comments box when you make the order. Let them know it is your 1st juice order! ;) All the juice companies I gave you above will be very gracious and generous to you since its your 1st juice order.

OK and your DK-TAB is 70% PG, and 30% VG.
Basically, PG and VG are what the nicotine is in. PG is short for Propylene Glycol. Propylene Glycol is what you see when you blow out after taking a hit off of your e-cigarette. VG is short for Vegetable Glycerine and this is just another type of vapor, just like Propylene Glycol. Propylene Glycol gives you a better throat hit than Vegetable Glycerine, but Vegetable Glycerine gives better vapor production. So, most people like a mix of the two. 30% of VG will give you a GOOD amount of vapor, and 70% PG will allow a great throat hit + good flavor. So your 70PG/30VG 18mg juice is great for you! A great mix of the two, and a good mg amount for a beginner! :D

You can Private Message me with any more questions you might have. You can PM (Pm is short for private message) me by clicking my blue username, to the left of my post. Then select "Private Message" and it will bring you to a private message box where you can type me a message with any questions you may have. OK? :D

Can I ask you some questions? U can reply to them here in this thread. My questions: Did you e-cigarette (your eGo) come with 2 chargable batteries, or did you only get one? And do you just have the 1 cartomizer (aka clearomizer) The cartomizer or clearomizer is the thing you put your juice into, that you screw into your battery. So, i'm just wondering what you got with your kit? and where is it from? Hope I helped.

HI there. Congrats to you too. I'm also a newbie here and will be a week in tomorrow which is exactly when I stopped smoking cigarettes. I haven't really missed them at all and found that once I figured out the right nicotine level to get, I haven't looked back even once. I'm so happy to have found this website and the e-cigarettes.

Heller Boosmoking, Andre L, bfu9278, DizGrizz, Serendipity_Stables, AND Honored Ones WickedSick, Plumes91 & Kropotkin, we together are many! I finally joined, but lurked about ecf a long time, where I gained the most knowledge - esp. answering a myriad of questions W/a shout out to Grimm Green, AKA Nick & his other half The Vape Babe AKA Amber with great videos on their experiences w/all things vaping! Hopefully soon Boosmoking, (you have a Clearomizer on your setup) we may have to start calling you BooVaper, STAY WITH IT & COLLEGE TOO!!! Have you tried putting your analog (real cigs.) in the car/somewhere inconvenient before bed & having your ecig/vaping device where your pack usually is? I know reaching for your pack before your eyes are even open is an automatic, autopilot bodily function & you may be surprised that you can have an even deeper satisfying morning vape than you get from an analog - much of it is replacement ritaulization, it's easy & works. I & now hubby too have our bottle with tobacco & nicotine & another bottle w/flavoring/caramel mix W/0 no nicotine in it so we can add or leave out as we choose. I & husband were smokers since we were kids & I quit analogs happily from my first vape on & my husband was not far behind. The immediate health benefits were undeniable and solidified our resolve. We went the economic route (after my husband kept buying gas staion specials!) with inexpensive passthroughs & really like the variable voltage tiny eGo scify looking passthroughs that don't die quickly like many others. We use them with mobile power pack chargers too. We're excitedly waiting for our new APV's from Health Cabin who we've had very good experiences with & longest wait was under 2 weeks using the cheapest/slowest post. There are many great vendors/people out there & in ecf we have found, near & far. Just remember, it matters not how you get there as long as you stay committed, every analog you don't smoke, WHATEVER IT TAKES TO MAKE IT WORK FOR YOU, TO EACH THEIR OWN. Thank You all, it feels good to see all of you here with advice, info, encouragement & KEEP ON VAPIN' ON!

Welcome. I'm also fairly new to this. I've been a two pack a day smoker for 15 years. I haven't touched a cigarette in two months, and I have never felt better. I wake up easier, don't wheeze after running, and, oddly enough, stopped snoring. While this is far from scientific research, to me, vaping is an amazing quitting tool, or alternative to smoking.

Plumes. 91 The way I heard about e-cigs is sort of quirky? I was discussing cigarette brands with another lady at the bus stop when a walker walked by and thought we were talking about quitting. She showed us her e-cig (it looked more like a real smoke) and told us where we could get them. The flea market! That weekend, I went to the flea market and found one of the vendors (there are two at my flea market) He explained the system, why his system was better than his competitors and then told me to go check his competitor out (that right then and there told me he absolutely had confidence in what he was selling). So I walked back to his booth told him what I was smoking at the time (illegal native reserves, light. Canada is really trying to go after them but so far it's not working) and recommended the juice I am currently using. He also sold me a second bottle of juice that he said I would probably enjoy more after I finished this one (it's RY4 18mg 70pg/30vg) more than likely finding it smoother than the first bottle.
Someone on here asked about what I paid and what I got for my money. I paid CAD 60.00 for the system itself which included, 2 complete eGo-C's (batteries, cartomizers) and a charger with a USB adapter (that's come in handy because I can recharge in the computer lab if I have to.) Nicotine juice was 10 per bottle so I'd say that's a fair price. So for 80 bucks, it looks like I have 2 months worth of smoking (my mom is trying out extra eGo-c, she's slowly coming round) I am looking forward to switching to lighter nicotine juice but I was going on the vendors recommendations for a first time user. He explained that generally this nic juice is great for first timers because the taste and throat hit is very similar to that of an "analogue" (chuckle) so switching over tends to go a bit more smoothly.

Question, I know I have to clean out my cartomizer every four days or so, but how often is the cartomizer replaced ( I love the fact that each component can be replaced separately)?

Oh, and I don't take my analogs with me anywhere, it's just my eGo-c, still working on the no morning smoke though. I think I'm gonna put the eGo in the hallway (where the last of my analogs lay) so I can reach for that instead!

I'm a noob also and I also did the exact same thing and it has worked for me and no more morning analog smokes

boo, you don't clean your cartomizer. wait, what are you using for a cartomizer? I'm pretty sure the eGo-C comes with a proprietary atomizer unit with a plug in cart tank that gets pierced and slowly drips liquid into the eGo-C atomizer, correct? Can you take a little atomizing unit out? Did it come with a blister pack of little atomizers that sort of drop onto a platform?

you don't really clean your cartomizer every 4 days. Once a cartomizer gets gunky, it will usually never work at 100% again. SOME people do clean them in alcohol, (let them sit in alcohol overnight to clean the heating coils) OR/AND they will boil them in hot water for 20-30min. Neither will get the carto back to 100% but they will work, you just have to give them time to dry. Its best to stock up on new ones because you'll want that nice fresh carto pretty often haha. And idk how big your bottles of juice are but even if they are 30ml you might need to buy more juice within 2 months. look at the juice vendors advertizing here because I can guarentee you they have juice 10x better than the flea market vendor haha.

But it sounds like your all doing well. Keep it up. PM me with questions any time.

FLEA MARKETS AROUND THE GLOBE R-O-C-K! Esp. w/what's going on where you are Boosmoking it's ingenious, you're not alone w/the way you ran accross ecigs, here in Florida people ask us about them all the time/everywhere we go. You tell Mom/yourself GREAT GOING & KEEP IT UP!!! Many people live where drops are their only hope & risky $wise, you're lucky & remember to pay it forward w/people asking you w/a smile even if it's the 50th time that day (we're all the face of Vaping), it also gives you a chance to brag & be the teacher. Remember, nicotine percentages have direct correlation to throat hit. 954Itneresti, Heller Cooper City from West Palm Beach! I hear you/feel you w/the health benefit, the same w/us & be careful, this seems to become quite a hobby, LOL. Rick L. keep w/it & keep your Vaping device closer then a real pack. Plumes 91, I like your style, you're succint yet original, THANX. Learning Vaping terminology is rough at first, easier the more you talk/write about it. I love dripping into an Atomizer (looks like a piece of candle wick), keep Cartomizers (full of fuzzy filler) around for going out & also Clearomizers (big/several inches in length/tall, but not a Tank) & not into Tanks. My better half is a Carto guy, Atty killer, had 2 Clearos & gave them up too & don't even mention Tanks. I am big into diy, so saving $ for materials/starting to study for an online degree in RBA's/do it yourself rebuilding of Atomizers sometime in the next few months & I've seen it makegrown men curse, so I'm in no hurry! May the force be with us all...
