Rule of Thumb: "generally", the more it looks like the real thing, the worse the performance.

For every one positive review for the Blu, I have easily read 100 negative reviews.

I would suggest a better battery model like the Kgo for a fixed voltage model. And the Kgo is definitely better than the over-hyped fixed voltage eGo models. The eGo's have the smallest voltage battery on the market. If it must be a small stick sized battery to start out with, then I would suggest the Volt by smokeless image over the Blu by a long shot.

Good Luck

I would look in to ego c twist and some kanger t3 or mt3. You can go to mt baker vapor .com and ask them what to buy and their juice is great priced to try a bunch. I vape the hawk sauce apple rings and peach rings non stop. Cig a likes got me started but my fav brand changed there juice so I went on to mods. I've head good things about smokeless image. Or look into volcano ecigs. I just out grew cig a likes.

If the OP is adventurous enough to try a variable model PV (personal vaporizer) I would suggest the Vamo over the twist or the volcano. The Vamo is variable wattage, which is a plus over variable voltage and has a 5 amp switch which would allow them to use any atomizer/cartomizer on the market. Plus the batteries only cost about $11 instead of the $25+ they will pay for twist batteries. eGo batteries are way over-priced.

I recommend a few Kanger eVods, and either ego C twist batteries or eVod batteries. And a few battery chargers - the ego C battery chargers will work with either of these batteries. And then order an assortment of juices to find something you like. The first place I go to is discountvapers.com but there are plenty of vendors on here that will be happy to hook you up.

seriously, if money is no object, go right to the top. Get the American made provari and a couple of vivi nova tanks. If you stick with vaping, you will eventually own one anyway. Second choice would be to go with an imported variable voltage ego, something around 1100 -1300 mah battery and again the vivi nova tanks.
You will eventually use the variable voltage. In the beginning you will not understand why you got it, after a couple of weeks of use you will not be able to live without it.
The vivi nova tanks are simple to use, easy to clean and parts are readily available. Unscrew the top, add juice and vape. There are better, top coil, bottom coil, re-buildable, but the vivi's are a great place to start.
I would not recommend the cig look-a-likes to anyone.

This is good advice as well, just cost a little more to get going. If you are going to step up to a variable power/volt device I would get a few kanger protanks as well.

The complete Vamo kit would be less than the $89 for the Blu kit. And it would be only about $10 - $20 more than the twist kit. But due to the high cost of the ego twist batteries, it would be a saving in the long run. All of these suggestions would be better than the Blu, however.

Can you give me a link to the provari and the vivi nova tanks please. I'd like to look into them. Thanks!

If you can comfortably afford a Provari, you will have a difficult time finding a better variable voltage PV for the long term. It has long been the standard that others have been compared to, and none have been as successful. If you have additional questions about the Provari, I can provide the answers for you.

So you've tried an e cig before and you like it? I'm new as well and lurked on this board for the better part of a week to make up my mind. For me money was a concern and didn't want to go all in until I knew for sure I liked it (and I do like it very much at this point).

The best bang for your buck is an eGo c twist battery. It's variable voltage (3.2v -4.8) with good battery life. Comes in 650, 900, 1000 mah varieties (larger number holds a charge longer, battery performs the same until it dies). It has limitations though in terms of choosing tanks, cartomizers etc.... that are low resistance and dual coil tanks or carts are probably not going to work stellar. This style of battery from Joyetech has many clones (some good , some bad). I see you're located in New York so myvaporstore.com is a genuine joyetech OEM partner , good prices, selection and I would assume super fast shipping for you. If you go this route make sure your chargers for the eGo have the MVS logo on them. Difference from 7-8 hour charge to 3.5 hour charge on a 1000 mah battery. They have good starter kits that come with an assortment of tanks and stuff. Even if you decide early on to go more advance having an eGo twist battery on hand is a staple for most vapors and a good go to battery in a pinch or if you find public vaping awkward. (note: The new kanger pro tank bottom coil using pyrex glass looks really nice, haven't purchased one yet, but will very soon....comes with additional two replacement heads).

Juice is subjective and is kind of hit and miss in the beginning.... what may taste like ... to you may be the finest tasting juice to somebody else.
There is NET (naturally extracted Tobacco) juice... WTA (whole tobacco alkaloid) ... etc.... some fruit flavors taste natural , others synthetic...blah blah blah

Now if you're an all in type of person and just want something super freaking fantastic from the start and money is of little concern I would look at getting a provari or a darwin. Good luck on finding a darwin though. darwin does all the thinking for you, but does not look like a traditional vape device and has it's drawbacks as well (mostly with tanks and the swivel arm going down, use adapter and slim tanks kinda gets by this flaw).

Probably said too much....very new, but the stuff people are doing is pretty incredible. There are tanks out there in the $200 and up price range alone. Using stainless steel mesh wicks, ceramic.... building your own coils, using cotton instead of silica wick... it's mind boggling for newcomers like us!!!!! lol..... Sorry if I've confused you even more.....if so grab an eGo twist to start, that's what I've been using the last few weeks and been happy with it. Get at least two batteries (that is what the starter kits are for). Watch some videos and read on cause I've really only touched on the subject and everyone will have their own opinion. Good luck.
