Welcome! I smoked 3 packs Marbloro Reds a day for the past 25 years. I am now down to 3 or 4 individual cigarettes a day, and those will soon be done as well. And that has been with the last WEEK! I'd really encourage anyone to give this a try. You knock out over 4,000 other chemicals and carcinogens while still getting the nicotine. Granted, nicotine isn't "good" for you, just like too much caffeine isn't "good" for you, but all that other crap is what causes cancer/emphysema/etc. Nicotine doesn't. However, understand that your body isn't JUST addicted to the nicotine. It has also become dependent upon all those other things. You'll feel a little "funniness" here and there, but if you have to wean off the analogs, that's fine too! You're moving to a healthier alternative.
Hi Karen, welcome aboard! You can seriously quit smoking with these things, my daughter and I did, roughly 6 weeks ago.
This is a great place to start, the forum has helped me immensely. Free counseling from those who have gone before us. There is one thing I have learned for sure, there is strength in numbers. Never be too shy to ask questions, this is not like other forums where questions go unanswered for days... We are all here for you
.My daughter uses the Vapor King, amd I like it. She likes the white chocolate but I like the kamel menthol 8mg I'm 69 aqnd I smoke 2 packs a day for over 50 years. I hope these ecigs will help me. Thank you all for the welcomes

I'm new to e-cigs too, my wife & I are on our 10th day, haven't had a "regular cigg" yet!
We've got a Joye 510 kit, one of the ones that seems to be recommended here at ECF to start with. I'm sure others with more experience will chime in.

Hey Karen, Welcome to the forum! I just love it when vaping becomes a family affair. I was a 2 1/2 PAD smoker for 40 years. I had tried everything to quit, always went back. 5 months was my longest. Now thanks to the e-cig I will be smoke free 9 months next week. I still feel like a satisfied smoker, but now I can breath and taste and smell, this thing is a miracle to me. 8mg is pretty low for heavy smokers like us. I started with 18 mg and after a few weeks upped it to 24mg and am now back down to 18. Everyone is different, so 8mg may work just fine for you. Read as much as you can here and be sure to watch the videos that Mistress Nomad did, you can find them at the beginning of the New Members Forum posts. Welcome! I've been off analogs for more than 6 months now. I smoked 1 pack a day for the last 40 years. Started with regular 510 starter kit, but quickly moved to the Silver Bullet for the extended battery life. I vape only VG liquid, mainly menthol, low nic levels.
Mamakaren WELCOME! This is a GREAT place to be! I was a smoker for 40 years and got my 1st starter kit 20 days ago and haven't picked up a cig since! AMAZING....I felt hopeless before, thought I'd NEVER quit and at 8.06 a pack, it was not only killing me literally but our budget as well....so hubby and I decided to quit, he's doing cold turkey (hasn't worked) and I did these and SHAZAM! You've already tried it so you know.....
i spend hours on here learning, reading etc....you'll find your own device that you will like and juices you will enjoy....welcome to a new day!

Hi Karen~! Welcome to the forum! Since you are a 2 packs a day smoker I'd go higher than 8mg to start with. Maybe somewhere around 18mg should be good. Good luck on you ecig search! =)

Started vaping on 8 April 09 with a V4L kit, and haven't had a cigarette since. Still vaping my V4L but about 3 months ago, bought an Elegant Easy. I use both because they are interchangeable, and I'm a very happy vapor.
Read, read and read some more. Vaping is a growing technology with a lot of choices out there!
