Hi all,

I'm sure I'm like a lot of new members, someone who wanted to kick smoking in the new year and turned to e-cigs first, then vaporisers when they realised the difference/cost comparisons.

3 weeks and 3 days later, no cigarettes for me. Incredible for someone who has been a smoker for 20 years without ever trying to quit before.

Anyway, joined the forum so that I can research others tips and advice...thanks :)

I bought a 'vapour nation' e-cig, along with a few flavours - made a mistake with the mg to begin with, opting for 24mg then wondering why after a week I was getting dizzy spells (I'd effectively doubled my normal nicotine intake)...so have now settled with a 16mg combination of various flavours, mixed with menthol (which I never really liked previously) but seems to complement the flavours well.

Flavours tried so far include grape (bit harsh), red bull (too sweet), cherry (ok), toffee (nice), golden virginia (my favourite)...as I say, topped up with 1/4 menthol just for a spice.

How long does it take for your lungs to increase capacity and clear all the years of bad stuff? I run 10k a couple of times a week, but haven't done so this year for a few reasons (too busy with young kids!)...I'm privately itching to get out and try to beat my PB (47 mins) as a result of stopping smoking! Any ex smoking-joggers want to give me their advice? (sounds completely stupid I know to be a jogger and a smoker but hey there you go!)

Hi Sacha, welcome to ECF and congrats. Although not a jogger I can tell you my lung capacity has increased dramatically as a result of vaping. The cilia in the lungs that have been covered in tar and paralyzed from analog chems (true fact) begin to regenerate almost immediately within days. I'm sure some joggers will drop by soon and post their experiences.
Enjoy you stay and the best of luck.

Thanks for all the welcoming replies. I'm 'lucky' I think, this vaporiser has been really easy for me to get used to as a complete replacement to cigarettes (used to smoke B&H, only about 10/12 a day), I really haven't missed them. I was nervous that the morning/coffee time would be the kicker, but it's been a breeze. If any pending ex-smokers read this, give it a try, it worked for me after 20 years without ever really believing I could quit.

I'm open to suggestions on all flavours "Cyprus", I think I'm definitely more a savoury person than sweet though, and I definitely wanted to avoid the champagne/red wine flavours available as personally I think that could set a dangerous precedent to get used to first thing on a Monday morning!

I was just going to offer up some popular juice companies for you then tell you a couple that I have really liked so far. Like you, I am very new to vaping so there is still so much more for me to try out there.

Virgin Vapor is who I order all of my juice from currently & I am loving most of what I have tried. Blueberry Cheesecake, Dark Roast Turkish Coffee, Spearmint Kiss & White Cherry Crush are a few that come to mind right now. I am not at home right now so I can't look to see if I am forgetting some others as I have a ton of flavors from them & haven't tried them all yet. They have a bunch of other flavors in the non-sweet category that might be up your alley if you check out the website. But if you are into coffee...I HIGHLY recommend the Dark Roast Turkish Coffee flavor...I am burning through the small sample bottle I have so fast that I plan to order a couple 30ml bottles very soon.

A couple of companies that seem to be fairly popular are Heather's Heavenly Vapes & VaporDudes. I know that Virgin Vapor's absolute line comes from the UK so I imagine they have business over there or are reasonable with shipping...but don't quote me on that.

Thanks very much for taking the time to give me that advice, I'll definitely look them up. I'm not really bothered about the cost, anything is cheaper than the horrendous price us UK'ers pays for straight cigarettes. I like the sound of the coffee one though. I'll definitely give that a go.

I have a local distributor, a cafe of all things, who has a counter to the side, stacked with flavours and vaporisers.

Another question, this 'vapour nation' I've bought...it seems great to me, really delivers a lot of vapour/smoke etc, are there better ones out there? I don't mind paying for the best, but what are the discernible benefits of the best vs the cheapest? I've got a cheap one I think, but it does the job for me? Am I missing out on something for the sake of 50 quid?

I personally use a ProVari 2.5 & love it. Very solid build quality, 2 year warranty (comes with 1 year, option to extend an extra year is $25), consistent delivery & long battery life. There are other options out there that are good but I wouldn't trade my ProVari for anything!

ProVari Variable Voltage Electronic Cigarette

Oh ya, for the sake of saving you a couple seconds...

Wow, didn't realise there were so many variations. One thing I have noticed is I need to leave this thing on charge overnight like a phone, and it lasts me only 24 hours.

I'd gladly spend more for something that lasts a couple of days, as well as gives me a battery indicator (like the iphone %).

Mine also has a transparent chamber of liquid which doesn't aesthetically look great, so will certainly look up some options. Thanks all.

It looks like a rebranded eGo. Limited info but it seems to be 601 threading. Also watched a vid and the reviewer said the threads weren't 510 (the most common) BUT a 510 accessory could be used= not a good idea as the threads on the battery could be easily stripped. When buying a PV here's some battery info:
100 mah= 1 hr normal vaping before recharge.
I can almost guarantee Chrissie in the UK Forums would have some info on the GPen.

It's one of these...

G-Pen Vaporizer | Grenco Science | Pen Vaporizer | VaporNation

...but I didn't pay that for it.

Glad I could offer some help. Those ProVari's come in several colors as well as mini's...have a look around the website. I ordered mine with the extended battery cap & 18650 batteries...I get about a week+ on 1 charge. I do not chain vape as heavy as a lot of people do so that time would be considerably less for a lot of people but I would suspect 2-3 days. Plus, you can pick up a couple extra batteries like I did & have some backups in case it dies on you. I also like using tanks so that I can go a while without needing a refill...here are a couple good sites that sell quality pyrex tanks:
Premium Tanks
The Phiniac Tank - Phiniac Rugged Pyrex Glass Tanks

To me, they are worth every penny! I like to drip new flavors to taste them before filling a tank up...you can use just about any atomizer & will as long as they are Low Resistance...but the HH.357 Cisco Spec Hybrid 510 Atomizer - Avid Vaper is one hell of an awesome one. Good Luck & congratulations on quitting analogs!

G'Day Sacha, Interesting I never was a menthol smoker at all, did not like the flavour, but in vaping think it gives a fuller flavour. I started off with tobacco flavours but now am really into the fruits and desserts. love grape, french vanilla coffee and orange - not too sweet but did try banana and coconut cream and surprised myself by really enjoying it!! :) Now I am working on cutting down the nic, vaping 12 - 6 mg, and just running on more, more flavour. After 40+ yrs of smoking, definitely need to get the nic down. Your tastes do change over time and I just love mixing and experimenting. Think I am over the first flush of buy, buy, buy for which my husband heaves a sign of relief!! Good you are over to the vapes - after a while smoking seems a dirty alternative. Get out there - I reckon u will thrash that PB now!! Cheers and vape on!
