Hello all,

A little background...

My wife and I stopped smoking heavily about 5 years ago when my son was born. I switched to skoal pouches and my wife only smokes about a pack a week now. We have 2 children now and out health has become more of a priority.

My wife recently mentioned she wanted to quit all together and I suggested we check out e Sigs so she could get off the analogs and I could get off the Skoal as well.

So, after trolling here for a while and doing some research we just ordered the Volt starter pack with 2 batteries, one for her and one for me, picked up a couple of sample packs, an extra charger and off we go!

This forum was instrumental in helping me make an educated decision on which brand to start with and I appreciate it.

I look forward to being a member here...hopefully this won't turn out to be more expensive than smoking regular cigs :).

Hi! I am new to ECF but not ecigs. I think you will find that it can be more expensive when you start up (but then I don't know how much you were spending on analogs. This is my experience) but then the costs come down. For me it took about four months to find my favorite setup and juice. I experimented alot but I had a very helpful and generous experienced friend so I could have spent more. I think I spent about $400 those first four months but now I can manage some months with as little as $30. Of course YMMV and it is very unique to each person. I kept thinking I had found my Go To juice only to get tired of it. Then I went through a phase when I wanted something different every few hours. Now I pretty much only vape one flavour. But I am not complaining. I really enjoyed the discovery process. I hope you will too!

I went to Ecigs to get off of regular cigs. I was/am amazed at how good it worked. I am not a puritan, I still smoke the stinkys, but only 2 today. The cut back was effortless. A month ago i could not even imagine life with out cigarettes. Welcome.

I started with the Skoal pouches when my wife quit, wasnt fair for me to smoke when she was trying to quit. The pouches work well at work and I don't smell like an ashtray.

I'm hoping that the e Sigs will work well at work. I know they will be a healthier alternative to "dipping". My wife is looking forward to all the different flavors and also the health benefits of quitting the regular cigs.

This could be a good adult "hobby" for us to enjoy when we are not chasing the muskrats around.

I am new as well. I had tried to quit many times over the last 22 years (pack a day or more smoker). Had tried electric cigarettes a few years back and was not impressed.
I quit trying to quit a few years back and resigned to be a smoker for life...
I went on vacation in November, my first time ever out of the country and meet a couple who where standing there with us "smoking" but not smoking with these big things. They showed me they had Lava Tubes and they let me try it. Very nice. So i started doing research found this forum, read a lot and and other places online.

I ended up getting the eGo T in the mail on 12/15/12. The last cigarette I had was walking to the mailbox that day.

I still have a ton of questions about vaping setups. I did not want to drop 100+ on the Lavatube x2 (my husband smoked for 24 years, we both started smoking younger then 13 years old) if it did not meet alot of our needs, like a fill can last the work day. Portable, long battery life for travel etc.

I started with a tobacco flavor and peppermint bark from where we bought our ego's My freedom smokes.com. Then we got a Mocha one, same place that I totally hate.
We ordered a bunch of samples from ecblends today. hoping to find some I like.

I cant believe I am not smoking, the switch feels like cheating at quitting, it was close to painless. I do miss the first thing in the morning on the porch with the coffee, but i know in my head thats 20+ years of ingrained habit that will take sometime to break. We still use a high level of nicotine in our juice but i am hoping its better then the cigarettes.

Great job on getting on the vape train. Honestly, I have found that the start up cost is higher, but once you find a reliable set up, your continued cost should be much lower. I wasn't really concerned with the cost as much as the fact that I didn't want to smoke anymore. I found this to be much better and a lot less painful than cold-turkey.
On another note, you may want to look at getting another battery or two. The batteries can fail and the last thing you want is to be without and left with analogs as your only option.

Welcome to ECF!

I think the Smokeless Image VOLT is a very good & affordable start. 'Desert Joe' is their best Tobacco flavor... IMHO

If you like the Smokeless Image Volt you may want to consider the CigEasy Go-go FURY in the future.... jus' sayin'... ;)

Hi and welcome! Congratulations on your first step into the vaping world. Team vapers have a ton of fun.

My husband and I both vape. Even though our needs and tastes are total polar opposites, there is alot of "That smells good, let me taste it" and "Here, try this." We visit local vape shops together and swap web pages back and forth. We've even attended our first vape meet (which I hope we will do again soon).

It can get expensive, especially when you want new toys. He uses a vmax, lava tube and a vamo while I alternate between smoovs (pen style), ego twists, bolts and now an iTaste. If you find a setup that you love and stick with it, it'll be considerably cheaper than smoking. If you're like us, well you're in trouble too!

The good thing is that our house is now 100% smoke free! Cigarettes have not been bought since August and the last one to be lit was September 10th!
