Hello, and before I say anything else, what a huge amount of helpful information there is here, for which I'm very grateful, and it's heartwarming to see how helpful everyone is. :)
However, I'm overwhelmed by it all, because I've decided to seriously try e-cigarettes and have no idea how to begin, or what to buy, all complicated by living in Canada where the powers-that-be apparently confiscate nicotone products coming from outside our borders!
I've smoked a pack a day for many many years - yes, I'm a senior - and because my husband has now developed asthma I thought it time to try to change my wicked ways.

Any suggestions as to what starter kit to buy, and what strengths and/or flavours, available within Canada, would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

I too as well have been struggling and after speaking with shady person or vendor after another, I found an absolutely amazing amount of info here! I must say that I have ordered 3 kits, 8 samples of juice...etc...not sure if PM works here but will gladly share info that way for you. as I am new here and not sure of the regs regarding posting vendor or product info publicly. Not having nic juice was my stopping point, now that i've found it, I am golden and ready to throw the nasties away for good, once my kits arrive I guarantee to never smoke again, VAPOR all the way!

I was in exactly the same boat -'senior' gal, no idea what I needed, pretty heavy smoker for 45 years. I was really lucky to have a good frriend who literally walked me through the whole beginning part. I did end up getting the eGo kit as suggested above, and I am LOVING it!! No smoking since I got my kit, and not a single craving! Go the PM route & you'll be all set. :)

you can not post vendors in canada that sell nic, thats what the PM list that i posted is for, you can discuss anything you want in PM, since those are not web searchable

that list will give you many trusted canada resources for supplies ;)

That is what I thought, but since I am new, didn't realize I have no PM ability for another 8 posts after this one...lol

Koodoos to this site and its members, I have searched my fingers raw these last few weeks and am ecstatic that I am so close to being smoke free after all this time!!!

Thank you very much for your replies. I guess I'll have to make a few more posts before I can access the necessary info! Thank you again, I'll keep posting until I get there. I'm determined to do this after going cold turkey a few times, trying graduated filters several times too, and Nicorette in years gone by, none of which worked in the long run, but I have hopes this time. I added it up and I've smoked for 50 plus years, it would be so nice to make my family happy and help my husband's lungs, never mind mine. I'm really encouraged reading everyone's the success stories. :)

Hi Geordiegirl

First, are you a Geordie girl?

Most people start by looking for a device that resembles a cigarette. You may quickly find that they aren't ideal. They are still useful though.
My wife has a cigarette style device that she uses in public but we both use an eGo battery and clearomizers or cartomizers most of the time. That sentence may not have made any sense to you now but it will soon. :)

While we can't post links to Canadian nic vendors I can tell you that most vendors require that you sign up for an account before you see nicotine on their juice menus.

Feel free to ask more detailed questions. You need three more posts anyway. :)

Thanks again! You are so kind and helpful! :) My husband has been ailing recently so I sometimes don't have time to get on the computer every day, but we did a search for local sources of e-cigarettes so I could at least see what they are like, and found that of course they are nicotine free here. Oddly enough, the Superstore tobacco outlet had some disposable singles today, which they didn't have LAST week, so I bought one - haven't opened it yet! ;) My childhhood friend back in the UK [and yes I AM a Geordie lass, Ang-EC, Northumbrian born lo these many years ago :)] switched a few weeks back due to lung problems and sings their praises, so I assume they can buy primed ones there as well as in the USA, while we Canucks can't. Still fuming over that, more autocracy from our dunder-headed politicians lead by Tsar Harper, I do hate being treated as if I need to be protected from myself! ;)

I do understand having to post more than once, so here's another question to up the number... I'm okay with signing up for an account, I have a few here and there already, and I'm also assuming a starter kit is the best way to go, for a beginner, since some of them appear to have all the necessary equipment to get one started? I read a lot of threads before signing up so I realise there's a LOT I don't know, and thank you for the links to relevant areas, KraKsX and Katya, I got lost the first night and had to jump through a couple of hoops to find my way back, oops! I feel a little silly talkiing to myself just to up the post count, but whatever it takes.

Okay, number five - I'm going to go and do some more reading, I didn't follow up on all the stickies with basic info, and maybe after THIS one I can spread the wings. :)
I really hope this will help me beat the stinkie habit.

Well you got 5 posts now so I hope you have the list, but for a beginner without hardware, this is the best deal you can get

https://www.canvape.com/product-p/ultwistkit.htm

If you want cigarette lookalikes they may not be up your alley, but you will find that they are much much better. For juice pick a vendor that is close to you and try them out, luckily you have one of the best in Canada on your backdoor.

Edit if you want cigarette like ecigs I can point you to someone that you can meet in Edmonton so you don't have to wait for or pay for shipping, and at a reasonable price.

Well I personally love the eGos.

They're small, portable, rechargeable, and easy to use.
You can even get ones that you can adjust the voltage
to provide a warmer/more intense vape. You'll need
some juice as well. I personally love juice from
Kick Bass Vapor. They have TONS of great flavors.

Here's some links to get you started.. Good Luck!
