Hi ev1,
I bought my first two nicolite disposable e cigs today. Pretty sure i can quit smoking using these.
£6.95 each. Got two coz i didnt know how long one would last.
Glad i did now coz i burnt the battery out in the first one in about two hours. Taking it easy with the second one now.
I'm not too keen on the taste but they'll have to do for now.
I'm thinking about buying the vapestick starter kit in a couple of weeks when i can afford the 45 quid.
Is this a good e cig or is there something better around the same price plz?
Also, when the battery died on the first one, i took it apart. Peeled the sticker off, popped the plastiic caps off both ends and just pushed the 'working parts' out.
There was still plenty of juice in there. I knew this before taking it apart because i warmed the battery a bit. Just enough to get a few more drags out of it and i still got vapour.
Can anyone tell me what battery i can use to get it going again ?
I wired 2 AA batteriesup to it and the light blinked a few times indicating not enough power.
I've tried to find out on the net what voltage the stock battery is but no joy.
I know i can buy 10 refills for another brand of e cig in town for 1.50
I could use the juice from them to refill the nicolite if i can find the right battery to hook up to it.
It would save me some money i aint reall got :)
Thanks.
Jim.

Congratuations on finding electronic cigarettes, or personal vaporizers, and this web site. There is plenty of great info here.

Not familiar with the brands you mentioned. Being a disposable, they weren't designed to last very long. Just long enough to give you an idea what vaping is like.

Sorry, I have no idea where Cheltenham is. I would recommend you buy a starter kit online from a reputable dealer. The one I recommend and helped me to stop smoking is Smokeless Image. They sell the Volt line of cigarette lookalikes. They sell high quality products, have excellent customer service, and fast shipping. Prices are right, too. They have a very active forum of vapors here in the vendor forums (down towards the bottom of the main ECF page) where you can ask questions and get solid honest advice.

Good luck.

Hi Jim and welcome to ECF.

Please be careful trying to fix the one, wrong batteries can cause you major problems. I do know there are vendors in the UK tho I can't really tell you anything past that.

As far as the taste once you get something you can refill there are tons of choices out there.

Also it would help people here on what to suggest if we know things like how much you smoke, if you want to stick to a cig look a like or if you are willing to use something bigger, say the size of a sharpie marker.

Welcome to ECF jimc! Congratulations on the switch! Spend a little time on these forums and you'll get a ton of ideas about what to buy, that's for sure. I agree with Nancy "Please be careful trying to fix the one, wrong batteries can cause you major problems". So that being said, welcome to the world on vaping! Have fun :)

Hi,
Thanks for that. Thought i was on a uk forum. Thats what i searched for. Nvm lol.
Cheltenham is in england. 120 miles from london.
I've tried everthing out there to quit. Never managed more than 24 hrs really.
Love these. (Do need to find something that tastes better though) Seem like the answer to me. The nicolite disposable e cig is very new out over here.
The only other one i have seen in the shops is the vapestick starter kit.
Been researching this online but there are so many different types its all a bit too much to take in.
Seen a youtube vid of a disposable modded to run off 2 AA batteries. But that wont work with the nicolite disposable.
It wouldnt phase me if it looked like i was smoking batteries when out and about. Especially if it wasnt costing very much and i found a juice that i really liked.
My second one is still going strong after 7hrs now. Having to restrain myself from using it too much but not wanting a real smoke. Very happy so far.

that is great Jim, there is a UK sub forum here once you get 5 posts in and wait about an hour, tho sounds like you may want to look at the kgo to start off with. I know that is a US company, but most will ship over there if you can handle the wait time. Other wise I do know there is someone there in the UK that reg checks the new members area, she has alot of info for sellers over there.

Hi,
The kgo looks about the same size as my disposable.
My disposable feels very big coz i been smoking roll-ups with slimline filters for most of the time.
Dont know how small these things go, but after using this nicolite i think i would prefer something that would produce a lot more vapour. So going smaller is probably out because of sizes of cartridges and batteries.
Ive been smoking almost 35 years. 30-40 a day for last 30 years.

Enjoying the opening ceremonies as well. A little behind you all but am enjoying them more than Beijing. I loved the smokestacks and the drummers.

I hated the taste of the first ones I got. The were Pro smokes. I wish I had found ecf before I bought. I stuck with and after a few days the urge for a smoke was bearable and I wasn`t edgy. Like you my 5000 previous attempts never lasted more than a day.

Currently am using volt products. I like the idea of a regulated battery. I am not a expert but for me they sound easier to be safe with.

I tried a few of the others some 510s. I believe for me it is all about the nic juice. I have not tried the variables. So that may change if I ever decide to try those.

Unfortunately for me I think it is all personal preference. That will mean cash to spend getting there. Good luck.

These guys and gals are great here Jim!...BE SURE TO READ THE TUTORIALS!...learned tons!...Even about the voltage / Ohms / Wattage not to exceed,....Duh,...Never thunk it!...and I'm a Master Electrician.

Anyway: The narrowed down some great units for me ( 2 UNITS,...well 3 actually) CHECK OUT:
(Smokeless Image brand) - "VOLT" -- You'll find you tube reviews and these guys are blown away from the power / vapor / Throat Hit / Batt life / Re-filling the Cartriges too!...Perfomance of this thing!....It is a mini (the VOLT) but they didn't expect this kind of performance.

The others: "Kgo" & "eGo TWIST" -- I'll bet I'll be buying those soon when I advance....(Probably might kick myself as one dude said I would be satified with anything less...I'm a 36 year Camel Smoker)

The kGo series $45 starter kit---Very long lasting batt...super options hence (510 threading)...all around, close to the last vaping experience needed..................Unless:

You play "eGo TWIST" $99 I think (poss cheaper)......Variable voltage for dialing in anything you could want.

Ask the guys and gals the sites to go to.....but.....they were my recommendations,....and they right on!

Welcome .....YOU ARE NOW A VAPORIAN!............Bryan

I'll be official soon

Congratulations and welcome to the wonderful world of vaping! A coworker of mine in London is using The Photon Super Tank Kit I am personally not versed enough to give input on what I believe is a 510 kit, but there are some very, very knowledgeable folks here who could probably look at the kit and give some kind of judgement on it. He said he really likes the USA Tobacco liquid that comes with it. Tastes do vary, but if you are using a disposable kind, I would be willing to bet this will be a massive upgrade. Keep in mind this kit will probably be larger in size than what you may be using, but should provide a much better taste and battery life.

Anyone who can take a peek and chime in?

thanks ev1, i really appreciate all the input and suggestions.
this morning my 2nd disposabel was dead after 10 mins. i panicked a bit and went n sold some ps3 games to the game shop in town (i'm a 44yr old teenager)
i bought a nicolite rechargable for 20 pounds to be going on with. doesnt taste too bad anymore now. plus i can refill it with juice easily enough i found out.
i was looking around the net at some of the suggestions made to me and i happened across the ego vision ce4 starter kit. uk site, free delivery, great reviews, both about the product and the customer service.
38.99 (my tablet keyboard dont have a pound sign) plus a 5ml bottle of juice thrown in free (nothing in life is free, i know that lol)
so then i sold the ps3 !! and bought the ego vision starter kit.
using whats left to go to london next thursday, experience some of the olympic atmosphere wth the mrs and kids.
just got to say quickly - arctic monkeys, oldfield, wicked cauldron and 'The Greatest" ali was there too. i reckon we nailed it big time :)
anywayz, hope i made a good choice buying the ego vision. cant see me going back to those nasty stinky smokes now :)
i am delighted about that. (just been told 2 weeks ago i got stage 1 copd)
thanks again :)

The ego's are great starter batteries, and because the are 510 will work with almost everything out on the market. Tho I would avoid duel coils with it, it can drain the battery faster.

I haven't used the ego stardusts, but people either seem to love them or hate the. But that can be said about most things.

hello again,
wont use a dual coil then (whatever one of those is :) )
what would 5ml of juice be equivalent too ? about a pkt 20 cigs ?
i'm havin to try hard and remember not to use the words ... or fags !

Yeah, I'd say that's just about right - I was about a pack a day smoker, and I go through about 6ml a day on average.

The basic deal with dual coils is pretty obvious when you think about it; they take twice the amount of battery power to achieve the same watts-per-coil (heat of each coil) as a single coil, and with a constant-voltage device you can get a little better battery life by using a single coil with a slightly higher resistance than you could with dual coils, and can get a higher coil temperature to boot.

Example:

Volts x volts / resistance = watts

1.5 ohm dual coil: 3.7 x 3.7 / 1.5 = 9.12 watts = 4.56 watts per coil

Watts / volts = amps needed to create those watts

9.12 / 3.7 = 2.46 amps (batteries are rated in milliamp hours, so the fewer amps the better)

Single 2.0 ohm coil: 3.7 x 3.7 / 2 = 6.845 watts on that one coil; more in the "sweet spot", plenty of vapor IMO

6.845 / 3.7 = 1.85 amps; better battery life than at 2.46 amps

If you can cook your dinner on one burner, why use two, using twice the power? It also seems to me that the upper coil of a dual coil cartomizer will be drier than the bottom coil, leading to off-flavor.

Many of the best tank/atomizers and clearomizers use one coil. I consider dual coils largely an energy-wasting gimmick. They might have some actual benefits, and will probably create more vapor with enough power, but I find that I get plenty with a single coil. I don't think they have much place on a constant-voltage device, but might have some merit on variable voltage devices with big batteries; the bigger the better.
