Made a new build today because why not. This current build is running at .31 ohms and looks a lot neater than the first build and thanks to @Wolfenstark for the tip about how to better angle the legs. Anyway, without further ado, here's the build:

Again good advice from Wolfenstark. :thumb:
Also I would try packing a little less cotton on the deck. Try to leave some space underneath your coils for air to flow and you will get better vapor production.

Didn't think of that, but that makes a whole lot of sense from a physics perspective, thanks :)

Yes space under the coils for air does help.
Also if there is not enough cotton inside your coils and a lot of cotton outside and on the deck when it gets juice on it it can pull the cotton down creating more of a gap between the coil and the cotton.

@Dopefish if you want to make contact coils like the ones trinity1911 has done in that pic you will need some tweezers.
After you have wrapped your coil but before you install it on the RDA take your tweezers and squeeze the wraps together and heat the coil till glowing red with a small blow torch or windproof lighter. Keep it squeezed together untill cooled then your coil wraps will stay together.
Also after you have installed your coils on the RDA but before you wick them fire them on your mod till turning red and the give them another squeeze till you get them nice and tight. Just be sure not to squeeze them while firing your mod because you will cause a short. while firing the coil check for hotspots on the coil or parts not heating up and adust your coil till they are gone ( the coil should heat evenly from the middle outwards).

Here's some coil wrapping tutorials by riptippers. He can be a little annoying but he gives some good info. I would recommend watching a few of his coil wrapping vids.

The language in this thread is kind of difficult, even for natives IMO and I know it's over a beginners head. A lot of the subjects there go beyond what knowledge I require to build a coil but it's maybe the best source around for learning the differences between a tight microcoil and a proper contact coil. Not to mention the theory that was built for the concept. If one has time it is a great read up. Good luck :) Tensioned Micro Coils. The next step. | E-Cigarette Forum

@proteckt3d sorry you find it a hard read maybe I could word things better but it seemed to make sense to me.
As for it being over a beginner head I would have to respectfully disagree with you. The OP asked how to make a tight coil and I explained and posted videos to help show him. The OP has been able to understand all advice up to then so I see no reason to think he wouldn't understand the rest I have given him.

Matt, discussion here makes sense for everyone. When I said 'this thread' it was regarding the language used in the tensioned coil thread I linked at the end of my post, not this one. Didn't realize the wording could lead to confusion I guess.

Ahh I see. Sorry for the misunderstanding mate. :thumb:
