Hey there, I'm rather new to rebuilding having just recently gotten a kayfun. At the moment I can't afford a mod with higher wattage capabilities so my KF is on my MVP I'm running a coil reading 1.5 ohms with cotton at 11w and I'm kind of disappointed with the vapor production, should I be using a higher resistance coil? I guess my question is how do I make the most of my vaping experience given what is available to me presently? Thank you for any insight I look forward to learning a lot in my time here!

What are you lacking that your disappointed with? I'm almost exclusively a Kayfun 3.1 vaper and tend to vary anywhere between 1.0 and 2.0 Ohms at 10 watts.

One thing I can say for sure, the coil you would make can have a huge impact of the quality of the vape. Even 2 different 1.8ohm coils, one using a 1mm drill bit and another on a 2mm drill bit will give 2 very different vapes. As will wire gauge.

Hey Banky!

Does your KF have airflow control? I have a KF Lite (clone) with a 1.6 ohm coil right now (no airflow control), and it's doing pretty decent at 10.5 W. I have another KF with airflow, and that bad boy ROCKS with a 2.0 ohm coil. Could be juice, maybe the coil's gunky? You're not going to fill a room with a cloud, I don't think (at least I never have with any of mine) but they're pretty doggone good for me.....

Thanks for the replies! Yes my Kayfun has airflow, I have the small screw removed currently liking the more open draw it provides. If the coil isn't the issue perhaps it's my wicking, it seems at times the vapor get "thin" if that makes sense. I know about priming the juice down and all that. I'm definitely not after clouding out a room, just a consistent thick vape. I wouldn't think it's gunked up, this is the second tank through this build since I made it yesterday morning.

Edit: Present coil was done on a 5/64 drill bit using 28g

The "thin" vape could defiantly be your getting or bordering on a dry hit, what % PG/VG juice are you using? You may need to move your wicks further way from the juice slots or closer depending on how thick your liquid it. It could also be your wick it too tight inside the coil, so it's chocking the feed of liquid off. You'll want the cotton to fill the inside of the coil, but have only a little resistance as you pull it in. I find I prefer a 2mm coil, puts out a lot of vapor (for a kayfun) and seem to last about a week of all day use... with 70% PG unflavored juice.

Edit: The 9/10 wraps around a 5/64 using 28 is one I do quite often. Assuming the wicks not too tight in the coil. How did you trim your wicks?

This is a build I did to help another see better how I did the wick. IMG_7677.jpg.IMG_7677.jpg,IMG_7679.jpg,IMG_7680.jpg

Where did you get the 3.1? I would defiantly tell you to check the coil being choked off, but I have also seen many posts form people who bought Fasttech of Focal kayfun's complain.... the juice slots weren't deep enough. If this is the case, I have heard that leaving the bottom ring of the chiming a bit loose helped them... but that's only what I have heard.

edit: You could also try this... as you have it now, cover the air hole and suck on the drip tip a bit..... don't flood it, but if you see a lot of air bubbles without gurgling... definably a witching problem

One of my favorite builds is on a kayfun at 1.8 ohms... using a 2mm mandrel. It will kick out clouds even on my MVP (i use it as a backup occasionally). The point is, if you're getting thin vapor it's definitely a wick/coil problem... Here's a couple pics I snapped a couple weeks ago... In my experience the wick is almost always the issue... and probably yours too... This was about a month old coil, so it's starting to look a little ragged, but you get the idea...

Important things to note... The wick is still fairly "loose"... Don't roll it really tight... Just roll it a little... The more compressed it is the less it will wick... When the wick is in place it should have full contact with the entire coil, but at the same time be pretty easy to pull back and forth through the coil with very little resistance. Also, and this is extremely important on the kayfuns... Do NOT block the juice channels... Keep the wick well away from them... In the second pic you can see where it lays is back away from the channel... Don't let it get over them in any way... They need to be open not just to pull juice, but so they get exposed to the vacuum when you draw so that more juice flows in easily.

Hi,
I am a newbie in the vain scene and myself have just purchased the Kay fun rebuild able what I have read that a PGA base juice gives more vapor than a Vg base juice if you are after cloud creation.

Other way around VG gives more vapor
The PG is more flavor and throat hit

I have a question for anyone using a kayfun. I'm using an iclear 30s and have been for about a year now. I only have one issue with it. I buy my juice 60 ml at a time. I used to get 40-50 days out of a bottle. I switched to the iclear and almost immediately I have noticed my juice consumption has almost been cut in half. I've been looking at my ordering history online and it matches up perfect when I purchased the iclear and when my orders got more frequent. I have been looking at the kayfun and I'm almost sold. But I've had a few people tell me they thought it was a dripper only. I can't do that. I like to have my tank loaded and ready to roll. Does this actually hold a decent amount of fluid? And has anyone experimented with different wick setups? I used to use a genesis clone with stainless and just gave up because of the complex setup. I find that I'm missing the whole build and fiddle part with my iclear. Thanks for any advice you may have [emoji16]

Do you NEED more vapor, or just want more vapor? I have a Kayfun sitting on my MVPv2, 1.6 ohm micro coil, Japanese cotton, 50/50 juice, anywhere between 9 and 11 watts, and when I'm driving, I need to crack the window or I can't see the road for a bit. Granted, I won't be winning any cloud chasing competitions, but there is definitely no lack of vapor. I go through about 1 tank on the Kayfun Lite+ v2 per day, and I am vaping pretty regularly on it. Total e-juice consumption is up a bit, but my nic level is down from 18 mg to about 10 mg.

The kayfun is a RTA rebuildable tank atomiser not a dripper , in terms of flavor it blows the iclear out of the water , it's less fiddly than a genny and it's an easy build , I wick mine with rayon by preference but cotton or silica is no problem either . It will match your iclear as far as out and about is concerned and kill it as far as flavor goes , it's also cheaper to operate , building a coil is a lot cheaper than buying replacement heads , 4.5 mls capacity should be enough capacity for you if not they can be extended .

This is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you. I appreciate the input. [emoji106]
