Hi to all. Glad to found this place.

In need of a advice or two or more from good people here. I apologize in advance if it's lenghty post.
As everyone, I made a plunge, hopefully somewhat calculated and ordered Eleaf Lemo and Istick today. Exited about it, but even with research for past few days on what to buy, which was what I searched, also a bit concerned. Would ask directly in threads already started on those, but as a new member, can't do that. wish I could have afforded something like rDna mod, but Istick is as far as I dared for now. So here are my questions.

is Istick good enough for Lemo or is it underpowered? I have absolutely no desire to sub-ohm and not into clouds, but as a smoker (pack/day at least), want to switch from that nasty habit and afraid I would be disappointed by my first buy. My only experience thus far is with smok t-Dix and frankly, not fond of it, and would prefer to build my own coil, which is reason behind Lemo ( seems to fit the bill and has good reviews).

If if there are any users out there that have that combo, what would be best operating and coil setup?

As as stated before, pack a day smoker. I did go to local vape shop, but the guy was completely uninterested to help and rude. So after few tries, I left the shop as it was obvious I will not get any info on nic level for Lemo device to fix my addiction, and not "overdose" if you will. Hopefully someone here can answer this for me. I use 18mg in smok and does the trick.

thank you,
Tomaz

Go to another vape shop or order online - from what i gather these shops well the good ones run on a lot of word of mouth and there are plenty of them out there for you to choose from.

Istick is fine for the lemo - I use it on a kayfun atm with a 1.5Ω build at 10-12 watts.

Build your lemo at say 1 - 2Ω and it will be fine.

Thanks guys for your answer. I did research to the point of my head spinning, but thus fur, it was mostly what to buy, because I am so anxious to stop smoking regular cigs. In all honesty, not all sure on how to use Istick. 28 kenthal seems to be good start, and around 10 or so watts? It's quite a bit of learning overall when you start taking vapes seriously.

Do your build and check it on an ohm meter to make sure it works and the resistance is what you want.
Some well most regulated mods like the istick read the atty and give you the resistance and will tell you if there is a short.

Then you play with the wattage usually starting at a low wattage and going up until you get a feel for it.
Depends on the resistance of your coil and the liquid your using also the wicking needs to be right and this can be finicky to get right when your first starting.

28 seems to be the common gauge most use - I got some 29 because 28 was sold out - I'm doing 7 wraps at 2mm.

Use something like this to calculate your coils = http://www.steam-engine.org/coil.asp

If you're going to build your own coil make sure you have an ohm reader handy so you can check it. 28 gauge kanthal is good for building on those RTAs to the ohms you're looking for. So like the previous poster said, build it to 1-2 ohms, and run it at around 10 watts at first. You can go up or down as you prefer, just be careful not to fry your coil. It might all seem a bit overwhelming at first, but watch some YouTube videos, and read through these here forums. You'll be a pro in no time. You couldn't have picked a better place to ask for advice either, these guys are great :)

The istick will act like an ohm reader for this coil you are building. The gauge of the wire doesn't determine the resistance of the coil exactly, though thicker wire will tend to go lower as the current can flow through it better. So the bigger the wire, the less the overall resistance. The biggest variable is in how you build the coil. For instance how many wraps you do, the type of coil, etc. You're going to have to play around with it a little to get it right where you want it. Trial and error is a HUGE part of vaping my friend. But don't be ashamed. When I started I had absolutely no clue what I was doing. I watched youtube videos and searched on the forums for most of my questions. Just stick with it and you'll be a pro soon enough.

You are right , and I'm looking forward to it, but we all have to start somewhere. with this forum and youtube, I'm sure somewhere today is much easier then somewhere few years ago, if that makes sense. Not to mention that stuff on the market is probably quite a bit more advanced comparatively.

Yeah vaping has come such a long way in the past few years, and the best part is there's only more advancements to come!

If 28 gauge is the wire you have, assuming you are going for a microcoil and cotton build, try doing around 8 wraps on a 2.5mm drill bit. That should give you a reasonable starting point. Perhaps a bit lower watts than others suggested (start at 8watts and dial up to taste) as the iStick fires a bit hotter than the shown numbers suggest.

28 gauge kanthal takes about 10 to 15 watts per ohm single coil.
30 gauge takes less watts per ohm single coil - I'm vaping 4 watts per ohm right now on a 30 gauge, and 8 watts per ohm on a 28 gauge.

Still need to buy kenthal. What would be better, 28 or 26?

Reason for edit: found ohm meter. Agree it's a good thing to have. Will buy.

I'd start with 30.

The lemo setup for single coil, so 28 would be fine there too.

If you start out with too thick a gauge, you might end up needing more power on your first build.
