Hi to everyone, several questions on vaping

First off, I just realized I misspelled my username and can't figure out how to change it, which is irritating. Other than that, the questions I have concern both DIY juice and now am questioning my ecigs themselves. I seem to have a talent for killing ecig batteries, even decent ones. I took the last one apart and discovered the little wire to the circuit board is prolly supposed to be attached to the atomizer and I'm not that patient. So question number one: for people with not very good luck at electronics, what is a really tough ecig, with batteries and atomizers that you can take apart and replace parts, instead of having to buy new batteries at $40 a shot. Two, I started making my own ecig juice. I smoke menthol, pure and simple. I have good products, but imagine my surprise when I disovered that there's prolly at least one other ingredient in the menthol ecig I have been buying bc it burns my throat. I'm using MFS nicotine (please can the comments about MFS) and about 50/50 vg pg with menthol flavoring and green mint flavor booster. Its good ecig juice, but considering I'm vaping all day its starting to irritate my throat. I don't like using too much VG bc it burns up my atomizers, so I'm taking advice. I used to smoke Salems and Camel menthols. So I like strong smooth menthol. Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated. Also, any opinions about TW ecigs? Peace out.

I cannot help with the DIY, the whole process is too scary for me.

I own a Provari which is a tank (meaning tank with cannon, not a tank style atty). Although it doesn't meet your criteria for being able to take it apart, it is one of the few that has a one year warranty and the manufacturer will repair it for a reasonable cost after the warranty. Even though the mech mods do meet your criteria, you can get into a whole other issue with ones that still do not last long and you just have to buy more parts for it and then.......you have to do more reading on the batteries to use and safety with a mech mod.

Someone may know but there is some menthol like substance that vapers use that is stronger or some junk. I don't like menthol either......just my 2 cents on the battery.

Hi, Dixie, and welcome to ECF!

A couple of friendly suggestions (with an emphasis on friendly!!!!!)

Your post would be a little easier to handle if you broke it up into paragraphs. You ask a lot of questions, and they are all lumped together.

This part really confused me:

I seem to have a talent for killing ecig batteries, even decent ones. I took the last one apart and discovered the little wire to the circuit board is prolly supposed to be attached to the atomizer and I'm not that patient. So question number one: for people with not very good luck at electronics, what is a really tough ecig, with batteries and atomizers that you can take apart and replace parts, instead of having to buy new batteries at $40 a shot.

It would be really helpful if you said what kind of battery you were talking about. Also "take apart and replace parts" is not something most of us do, we buy equipment that doesn't need taking apart and replacing. (for the batteries at least). At a guess, I think you might be using cheap ego clones, which can have a tendency to break at the top. (But of you're paying $40 each for them you REALLY should be buying something like MVP's instead!!!)

Welcome to ECF, and give us a little more specifics; we'll do the best we can.

For a sturdy, reliable device, I don't think you can beat the MVP 2. It's very well made and performs great. It's sort of new, but very few people report any problems with it. I think some have been using theirs for at least a year with no trouble. The battery lasts for 2 days which is amazing right there.

I love mine and get very good flavor and vapor with no hassle at all. It is really just plug and play which I like. I don't want to fiddle with or rebuild anything. I just want to vape and not smoke, lol.

Here is a link to a reliable ebay seller that has it for a good price, $42.50, with free shipping. It might work for you:

I can't help with the batteries, sorry!

Yes, a menthol is rarely just a menthol--my "pure menthol" has three components:
1) 5% menthol (I make my own from menthol crystals and use the diluted flavoring, but you can just use the flat menthol flavor if you want). This is set a little weak as I dislike being overwhelmed.

2) 1% Cinnamon Red Hots from TFA. This warms the menthol a bit and keeps it from biting.

3) 0.5% Milk Chocolate from TFA. This rounds out the flavor, smooths the menthol a touch, and adds a little bit of complexity to the flavor.

Where your balance is will differ, and you may not choose the same things I did to modify your menthol.

You can try adding ethyl maltol to your mixtures, which is said to help bring down the harshness of certain flavors. I'm not positive it helps with menthol flavors, but it's said to help with harsh tobacco flavors. You can buy this premixed, as it is a powder which you'd have to dissolve in PG, from The Flavor Apprentice. Use a couple of drops per 5ml solutions and see if it helps.

Hi Dixie. I am a menthol diehard and i have been DIY for the better part of two and a half years. If you are mixing with pre made menthol most of them would be strong at 3%..... I personally prefer 2%with the flavor apprentice... i use ethyl maltol to sweeten and cut some of the harshness of the menthol. I also use a peppermint as a back flavor undertone. I occasionally substitute the peppermint with a fruit like pineapple or lemon or grapefruit for a change of pace.

As for batteries.... nearly all of the better mods will be leaps farther along than the simple batteries you are having problems with. I will leave out any specific recommendations but a basic mechanical mod would certainly be the most robust and serviceable .... Good Luck. Happy Vaping.

Lol, Dixie you sound like my wife. I always say that her super power is to destroy any electronic device within her arm's reach. Sorry but can't help much with the menthol (makes me gag), but RTS vapes is the website that I order all my DIY stuff from. Great site, great service, decent prices.

Regarding which device to buy... I wish I had gotten a Reo from day 1, but honestly you may not want to fiddle with building your own coils. If so, Reo.... period. If not, I'd recommend checking into an MVP.

I guarantee my wife's super powers are way stronger than yours and she hasn't killed it after months of drops, etc. Great device

+1 on the MVP 2. If you prefer an ego style battery then I'd suggest the itaste vv3, also by innokin. You can take them apart, but they're tough and reliable. The vg3 is only an 800 mah battery though. It used to get me to work and back, but you may need more batt life.

As far a diy juice goes I got nothing. That's so far out of my league.
