Quick question- I'm having trouble finding batteries here in Japan for my iTaste VTR. Im looking for 18650 High Drain 10A batteries, typically the AW IMR 2000mAh or the efest IMR with similar specs. All reputable vendors are sold out and the ones on Amazon etc look to be fakes. What I can get my hands on are the Sony VTC5 or the purple eFest 20A or 35A batteries. Are these batteries excessive for the VTR which has a max output of 15 Watts and 5 Amps, or will they work fine?

You can pretty much forget about VTC batteries for now.

With that out of the way, any of the "high drain" 10+ amp IMR or IMR hybrid batteries will work fine in your VTR.

Why can I forget about the VTC batteries? If they are compatible with the VTR, then I thought they would come in useful if I buy a mech mod further down the line.

I think TJ was referring to the often out of stock notices on sites. If you have a source he's not seen, fine.

While a bit of "overkill" for a regulated mod, which should never see the high amp drain of a sub-ohm coil, they will work just fine, and perhaps even last longer (overall life) since you're never going to stress them. Voltage output is the same on all of them, and the regulated mod will only draw the current it needs - well below the max of the high amp drain cells.

And as you say, the idea of "future-proofing" is a good one. :)
