I want to get a Sigelei Mini 30w but this is the only place I can find them in stock at the moment, and the only (18650) batteries they have in stock are the purple Efests and Samsung 25R. I'm not sure about either of these batteries, but I have different concerns with each. Thought maybe you folks could help me out.

The Efests, I have read, are not what they say they are. They're actually a re-wrapped something-else, that is actually only rated for 20A and not the 35A that they have printed on the labels. Now, I suppose I could just get this one and "pretend" it says 20A instead of 35, but I'm not sure I want to support that kind of deceptive labeling if I can avoid it.

[Edit: The Mini fires up to 8.5v and as low as 0.5 ohms which, when both are maxed out, equals 17 amps if I'm not mistaken, so the 20A battery should be safe to use if that's what it comes down to, is that right?]
[Second edit: How strict are the tolerances on these things, though? If both are off by even .1, then we're talking 8.6v / 0.4 ohms which is 21.5 amps, which is over the battery spec. I don't want to blow anything up, here...]

The Samsungs, on the other hand, are labeled "INR" with an "N" and I've always heard we should be using "IMR" batteries, with an "M". What's the difference, and are the INR's suitable for this device, as well?

Are either (or both) of these batteries suitable for this device and, perhaps more importantly, will they still hold up if I decide to step up to something with more power, a little ways on down the road? Which one would you get? Or should I keep looking around for someplace else that's got AW's or Sony VTC's in-stock?

Regulated mods don't work like mech mods and different calculations are needed to find out the amp draw. Watts, battery voltage and device efficiency is what you need to go by (check steamengine for the calculations). At 30w and the battery drained to 3.2v (amp draw increases with the battery draining as it needs to work harder to push the watts) and assuming a 90% efficiency the amp draw is 10.42, so you're good with 20 amp batteries. The 2500 mAh efest is a rewrapped LG he2, which is a very good battery. You can us usually get the LGs cheaper than the Efests, and there's also the LG he4 which is slightly better. The Samsung is also a very good battery, and many prefer it over the LG (I prefer the LG though).

EDIT: INR is a hybrid battery, suitable for vaping. I believe the LG is a hybrid battery as well, so the Efests IMR label is wrong.

The E Fest 35amp batteries are not what they say they are so I would scratch them off your list. Here is something you SHOULD read for sure. This man has helped out so many people on this site. He is very smart when it comes to batteries and how they relate to vapeing and so forth as well as many other vape related subjects. This is essentially a list of most batteries you can use and some info about them and also there is some general information as well.

I wanted to state that you need to be sure you are getting authentic batteries, there are more then a few sites out there that cell batteries that are not exactly as advertised. Please my friend look into the site illumn.com. They have some of, if not the best prices on batteries I have seen on the internet. They have an excellent rep in our community and the flashlight community raves about them as well. I have NEVER seen a negative review on them. Sony VTC4 2100mah batteries can be had for under NINE DOLLARS. That is a fantastic price and the Samsung 25r cells are even cheaper, I believe six or seven bucks. Another thing I LOVE about them is if you are buying batteries buy the pair you get cases for every two cells you buy. I would NEVER use another site after using these guys. The best cells in my opinion for high wattage vapeing are VTC4s (30 amp-not 100% sure TBH but I would say twenty based on the link) by Sony, Orbtronic SX30 2100mah are second best IMHO as they are also 30amp then you got Samsung 25r (25 or 20 amp), LGHE2 (20 amp), Orbtronic SX22 2000mah (22 amp) and there is also an Orbtronic 2500 mah 21 amp battery. The 2100mah purple E Fest 18650 cell is apparently (according to the blog I linked) a re-wrapped VTC4 so if no other options were available I would probably use that one but as I said with VTC4s being so cheap at illumn.com I just stick with them even in my lower wattage devices like a 30W device I still put a VTC4 in it just because they are like $2 more then the blue Samsung batteries and they are a 30amp so I religiously use them. Also in the US you can get free shipping if you spend $100 so I would just buy 5 or 6 pairs of VTC4s and get 5 or 6 free battery cases and free shipping lol. They have or at least had a GREAT sale on the 2014 non digital Nitecore chargers the i4 and i2 which are top quality chargers they just aren't digital and they were priced at like $15 for the four slot one or something like that. I grabbed two and use them for the cells that go in my regulated devices just cause they were such a good price last time I ordered batteries for my wife and I.

Nic`d Up in Oklahoma!
The Sig 30w mini can bypass the chip and run as a straight mechanical (press power and down button at the same time, you`ll see DC-DC come up on the screen), so if you intend to do this you would need batteries rated for what ever amp draw you`ll be needing.

We have one that my wife use`s and we bought her Sam 25R`s to go in it, and every now and again I "borrow" one of her sams to put in one of my mechs cause the V4`s might be in the charger, and they do just fine running a .3 dripper.

That being said, thanks for the linky TO, I can hardly wait to spend some Moo-la with these guys, they are in my state and the prices are FT cheap!

Haha. NP man, they been around for a long, long time and I post that link as much as possible. I know VTC4s in Canada locally to me sell for $15 so me and my wife always buy our cells from illumn. I have 10 VTC5s and 14 VTC4s on the go currently but they all have designated devices. In May it will have been two years for my VTC5s and there meeting the recycle bin and being replaced with VTC4s. Come on Sony, drop a VTC6. 60amp draw, 5000mah high drain IMR 18650. I can dream, lol.

The Samsung 25r is a 20 amp battery though, not 25. Right? The 20r is sometimes advertised as 22 amps, sometimes as 20 amps.

It is a 22amp cell. Apparently the 25r is a 20amp cell but I was always under the impression it was a 25 amp battery but after looking into I do believe it is a 20amp cell. Strange.
