So im looking to get into drip atomizers. Im using a k100 and want that smooth flavor from an atomizer. My questi9n question is:
Should I go all in on something like a genisis tank or start with something moderate like a smokech rda tank? I mean is it really worth it for 150+ for a tank if I care more about the vape than having my set up be the blinged out boss mod?

I have a K100 and use a AGA-T on it. I paid $25 for it. I drilled the air hole to 1.5mm and the wick hole to 4mm I think. Great performance, but I don't have a high end genny to compare to. Not planning on changing that any time soon ;)

I also have a IGO-L. $15 I think. Drilled the air hole on that too. Great performance, but again I don't have a high end dripper to compare to.

I suggest you start with something inexpensive and see how you like it. At these prices you can get one of each and compare the RBA to the RDA experience. For a RBA I suggest the RSST to start with. Its insulated wick hole should really help you avoid shorts with SS wicks, but it does have a plastic tank. Once you know either is for you, you can revisit the boss mod thing :thumb:

Plenty of vapers never graduate from egos and clearos. Some buy the most expensive gear. The thing both groups have in common is their level of satisfaction. If you are satisfied with egos and clearos, a vamo and an aga t or a reo vv with rm2 then you win. You may not like the expense, maintenance and upkeep or the looks of what I like. Find what makes you happy and stop there. Or buy everything and make a hobby of it. So long as you don't have a stink stick dangling from your lips, you're ahead of the game.

Now that said... I really like the beautiful drawtube (mech) with an aga t (original iteration), ss mesh wrapped in 30g kanthal metering at 1.2 ohms.

I also like my SVD with Russian RBA wicked with ss mesh and cotton batting wrapped with a micro coil metering at almost 2.2 ohms.

Will you like those setups? You won't know til you buy and try a bunch of different things.

So long post longer: read, keep asking questions, and buy what looks like it will fit what you think you are looking for. Or alternatively, buy everything and complain when you have no money like the rest of us.

Exactly as the guy above said. Also if you want to try your hand at rebuilds etc to try you could get a fairly inexpensive tank like a protank and start rewicking the heads with micro coils and cotton etc just to get a feel for things. In fact a pro tank with cotton is still one of my fave vapes, but I like a really airy draw unlike most people. There's also the igo drippers as the guys said which are inexpensive, work really well, and can take multiple setups. But saying that, I've got an ismoka magoo Kayfun clone which I really really like, and it's a fraction of the cost. Suppose it all depends what your willing to pay. I personally am not willing to pay £100+ for an atomizer just because I'm happy with the results I get with what I've got. Worth a go just for the sake of tinkering :)

Honestly if I had the scratch to throw around I'd just grab a Provari and a high-end genesis RBA (the Cobra looks pretty slick) and be done with it (yeah right, I doubt I'll ever be satisfied until I have one of everything), but as that isn't the case I am currently happy with my iTaste VV 3.0/Mini Protank2 combo. Now that I know that vaping is, in fact, my thing, I'm going to keep upgrading for as long as I have a steady stream of income.

Read reviews, Google the crap out of everything, try everything you can get your grubby little hands on and just roll with whatever piques your interest. As was said above, as long as you haven't got one of those nasties dangling from your lips then you're doing it right!
