Many people prefer higher PG at least early on, unless they have sensitivity to it, as it generally seems to pass flavor better, and seems to contribute to throat hit (though nic is the basic element that provides TH).
A weak flavor is simply a particular vendor going a bit "light" on the flavorings compared to another vendor, PG does seem to carry flavor better.
The whole PG vs. VG discussion is really a subjective area. I can DIY a 0VG (high PG) mix that has good vapor production, tastes good, same as a 0PG (high VG) blend, though at the ends of the scale the 0PG will have higher vapor production/"lung hit". While not too bad, however, I do notice a bit of "heaviness" from 0PG mixes compared to those with moderate to high amounts of VG; this really only shows up when working out, but I've gone back towards about 70% PG in my own blends -- zero shortness of breath, good vapor production.
Also, another empirical thing, I certainly do see more of a light haze buildup on my car window from high VG vaping compared to high PG. While nowhere near as bad as the smoking haze buildup from back in the day, it is another data point nudging me towards higher PG. If I had PG sensitivity I would have zero problem vaping 0PG, since net it is still vastly better than smoking in my opinion, but given my own body I'll stay with what works best for me.
