A most unusual situation here. I've been using the eGo-T attys for 2 months now. I'm using 4 at a time in rotation as the day progresses. None really get any more attention than the others. I'm still on the original 4.
No problems to report.... All four came in at 2.2 ohms. I haven't touched a wick. I pry the cap off everytime to fill the tank. I did chip a fingernail once early on. After a few times of taking the cap off, I twist the chad out. I don't clock the tank to the atty. I blow out the gunk every couple of days. No leaking except an occasional tiny drop on the battery connector. I wipe it with a Q-tip when that happens or a Kleenex when I'm not at home.
My juices are all DIY ranging from 100 percent VG to 75 percent VG/25 Percent PG. I like my flavors strong. On 510 attys, eGo Mega A attys and eGo Mega B attys I ran my flavors at around 25 to 30 percent. When I switched to the T attys I bumped the flavor up to 35 to 40 percent cause I thought the flavor was a bit weak except at very high voltage. Since higher voltage tends to make the eGo-T pretty dry tasting I don't normally go above 4.4 volts depending on the particular juice. I'd say my range has been 3.7v to 4.4v
Now the unusual part.... Yesterday I did a cleaning on my first atty. It was getting a tight draw and blowing out the gunk didn't help. Rinsed it in hot water for a couple of minutes. Soaked it in vinegar for 5 minutes. Rinsed for a few seconds in hot water. Did a dry burn. Got the glow maybe 4 times. Rinsed out the char with hot water. Did another quick dry burn but it never got hot enough to glow.
I metered it and it came in at 5.1 ohms. I've had regular attys go down in resistance just before they pop but never have I had one go UP in resistance. I checked my meter against a bunch of attys and it's checking out as right on the money.
Anyways.... I put it on the ProVari and had to crank it up to 5v to get anything out of it. After about 15 minutes of that, the resistance started dropping until it finally stopped at 2.8 and has been there for about 10 hours of use now.
I like my vape at around 8W so before, for 2 months, this atty was 2.2 ohms and running at 4.2V
Since I cleaned it and it changed to 2.8 ohms, I'm running it at 4.8V
Interestingly....... The flavor is knocking me on my .... with this configuration. Same wattage, same juice, same atty, same battery but by the resistance going up to 2.8 and the voltage being raised to 4.7 the difference in flavor is huge. I mean REALLY huge. I'm going to have to drop my flavor down to 20 percent if this keeps up. Problem IS... this only has happened to 1 of 4 attys in use. What I do to the flavor percent for one, I do for all of them unless I make special flavors just for this one atty.
Regardless of what is causing this freak atty to act up I've come to the conclusion that it's very possible that if they were to start producing HR eGo-T attys the outcome MIGHT BE.... way stronger flavor at the same wattage as a normal setup.
Anyone with steady fingers and great eyesight want to mod a coil on an eGo-T to 2.8 - 3.0 ohms to see if it's a reproducible result? Don't throw those popped eGo-T attys in the trash just yet.
