Hi all,

I'm pretty new to vaping, really started getting into it about a month ago and am still learning about coil building. With that being said, I just ordered a Vaporshark DNA 40 and would like to know if I would be able to utilize nickel coils with high VG juices (80-100% VG)?

The reason I ask this is because I know the nickel coils for the Atlantis and Subtank are sub-ohm, and I have tried using sub-ohm coils with high VG juices and I get lots of dry hits. When I switch to the 1.2ohm coils it works beautifully. Atlantis and the Subtank are the two tanks I currently use so I'd like to continue to use them on my DNA 40 if possible (with the temp control feature), but as far as I know there are no 1.2 ohm nickel coils for the Subtank or Atlantis.

Please help. Am I going to have to bite the bullet and get an RTA? Thanks in advance.

I have no issues with either the nickel Subtank or Atlantis coils (I purchased the premade ones from Vaporshark). With the nickel Subtank coils, I still vape it at 25 watts, just like the standard OCC coils, with the nickel Atlantis coils, I am currently using it in an Atlantis 2 on the VS rDNA40 and I have that all the way up at 40 watts and I'm not getting any dry hits. My temp is set at 450 degrees and when I vape in the mirror, I see that the temp protection kicks in after about 4-5 seconds. With the Atlantis 1 with the stock 0.5 ohm coil, I typically vape it between 30-35 watts.

I'm not using max VG juices, but the juices I have put through those tanks range from 60VG all the way up to 90VG. The Atlantis coil, with the 4 wick holes definitely wicks high VG juices better than the Subtank with just 2 wick holes.

Thank you for this! I'm going to try the Atlantis nickel coils first before I start thinning my juices. This helped a lot.
