I am confused… I have seen and understand the Excel file that shows resistance vs voltage and seen the calculations for ohms but I still need to step back and understand the basics of why high res vs low res.

If I have a Lavatube, do I want a low res or high res carto and what are the pros and cons of each.

To put it as simply as possible, low resistance is really just a way of imperfectly faking higher voltage vaping on a standard 3.3V-3.7V device. You can do this yourself, running LR stuff in your lavatube and cranking the voltage way down, but you will get better performance, and more battery life by just running a normal or high resistance atty/carto at higher voltage.

While I've never owned a LavaTube, from what I've read about them you'll probably want to use a SR or HR carto on it because of the built in regulation. IIRC that device will automatically lower it's output voltage if you use LR attys or cartos -something in the 2.5/3ohm range is needed to allow the device to run at 6v or somesuch. There are a few threads on the Volcano site about this, probably some info here Lavatube as well.
