I'm Not new to vaping, but New to the Forum! I just wanted to share with everyone that the Ego Mini 450 Mah is totally awesome..
I've been steady vaping with Joy 510's over the past 2 years... Yes I knew about the ego, but I was always turned off by it's size. The Mini is about half the size.. Throat hit is very nice! I love this little device so much I went back and ordered an EGO Twist Unit. I'm currently using 2.0 Carto's from BOGE. Nice clouds of Vapor..

Coolest Part about this device is it's size.. Not even 2 inches long, literally about the length as my standard Cartomiser..

Those minis pack a nice hit! I have one left......have had several.

However, compared to regular joyetech ego twist in 1000mah, just didn't get the life from them. I mean lifetime, not just battery life.

I've had several go bad....maybe they can't pack good electroinics into such a small thing........I can tell you that all the 650 and 1000s I have still going.......but have blown through several minis adn they just didn't last. Died on charger, etc.

It would stand to reason that the lower the capacity of the battery, the sooner the battery will die, and need to be replaced. This is simply because if a battery is half the capacity of another battery, you are going to have to recharge it twice as often, which doubles the wear and tear on the electronics.

If a 350mAh battery and a 650mAh battery can both be recharged 300 times before they die, the 650Mah one will last a lot longer, because you wont be charging it as frequently. I don't really think there is an issue with the electronics in the minis, it's just that you are charging them so much more they wear out sooner.

The minis are awesome though. I picked up a pair of Smoktech 350s when they first came out and they are still going strong today. I have a chopped down Smoktech DCT with a shorty drip tip on one of the minis and it's such a compact and useful package.

The Smoktechs are unregulated, and if yours is also unregulated it will likely be putting out around 4.2volts fresh off the charger and then go down until about 3.2v when the internal protection will kick in and stop you from running it down anymore. That's probably why you are experiencing better performance from the eGo mini than the 510 you were using. If this is the first time you've experienced a vape at a fresh 4.2v, you'll be amazed if you get a Twist or a Spinner, although they would be larger so you may not like them.

Glad you found something you love, I hope they last you awhile!

I second this. At least for me, the ego minis die or start acting screwy well before 300 charge cycles. I like the size but not the performance.

So do you suspect it's a electronics issue or a battery issue? I suppose due to the smaller size of the minis that the internal battery itself is less robust in its ability to tolerate the high drain we put on these devices. The larger the battery, the higher discharge rate it has, which means it can also tolerate lower discharge rates better. We sort of run these batteries close to their limits, so maybe the mini's battery is just a tad to weak for using low resistance stuff.

It would just seem odd to me that Smoktech or any other manufacturers would go to the trouble of designing a different internal circuit board for use in the minis, it would be easier and cheaper to just use the exact same board as the full size eGos. Because after all, the only size difference is in the length of the tube, the head portion still retains the same dimensions as the larger batteries, so there's no reason to change the board.

It might also just be a coincidence. eGo batteries of all manufacturers, ages, and sizes/capacities just randomly die sometimes or act funky. A friend recently bought a 900mAh eGo kit and one of his batteries died after about a week. Where as my two minis are still going strong after far more use, if that was the only experience I had with eGo batteries (or didn't know any better) I might come to the conclusion that the minis last longer than the higher capacity ones.

Not sure if those 450's are the same size as the 400's but the 400 is listed at 2-3/8" and a 650 is listed at 2-13/16". I'm still glad I got a 650 mAh Ego-T. I can easily live with the extra 7/16" for the extended battery life and possible longer operating life.

Haha that seems a bit ridiculous doesn't it? Making a battery that's only a hair shorter but with a third less capacity than the 650s? The 650 would sure seem like the better deal.

The 350s make sense, they are tiny, even comparedto 650s. But making one that's nearly the same size as a 650 but with a big drop in capacity seems pointless.
