Thanks for the contest!

Got my ipod on shuffle so I might have a lot more entries today.

Driven by the strangle of vein showing no mercy I do it again,
Open up your eye, you keep on crying baby, I'll bleed you dry
Skies they blink at me, I see a storm bubbling up from the sea

So near to surrender
So near to an end
So near to surrender
To smile is to pretend.

Oh you might think you're small
With your back to the wall
Oh you might think it's sad
When you've been hurt so bad.

But when somebody cares for you
Someone who shares
You're not near to surrender anymore.

So keep it up
Don't give in
Make a stand
We're gonna win

We can do it
We can do it and if they wanna they can try
But they'll never get near
Then they can get out of here

Gonna keep on driving
Never stop

United, united, united we stand
United we never shall fall
United, united, united we stand
United we stand one and all

Ok maybe not my favorite but seems somehow apropos sitting in my clouds of Vapor

But now they only block the sun
They rain and snow on everyone
So many things I would have done
But clouds got in my way
I've looked at clouds from both sides now

From up and down, and still somehow
It's cloud illusions I recall
I really don't know clouds at all

It must have been cold there in my shadow
To never have sunlight in your face
And you can content to let me shine
You always walked a step behind.

I was the one with all the glory
While you were the one with all the strength
Only a face without a name
I never once heard you complain.

Did you ever know that you're my hero
And everything I would like to be
I can fly higher than an eagle
Cause you are the wind beneath my wings.

This is too late but I don't care, this song affected me when I was a naive young mathlete considering my direction in life......:thumb: Pink Floyd is such cheery music!!!!

Dogs (Waters, Gilmour)

You gotta be crazy, you gotta have a real need.
You gotta sleep on your toes, and when you're on the street,
You gotta be able to pick out the easy meat with your eyes closed.
And then moving in silently, down wind and out of sight,
You gotta strike when the moment is right without thinking.

And after a while, you can work on points for style.
Like the club tie, and the firm handshake,
A certain look in the eye and an easy smile.
You have to be trusted by the people that you lie to,
So that when they turn their backs on you,
You'll get the chance to put the knife in.

You gotta keep one eye looking over your shoulder.
You know it's going to get harder, and harder, and harder as you
get older.
And in the end you'll pack up and fly down south,
Hide your head in the sand,
Just another sad old man,
All alone and dying of cancer.

And when you loose control, you'll reap the harvest you have sown.
And as the fear grows, the bad blood slows and turns to stone.
And it's too late to lose the weight you used to need to throw
around.
So have a good drown, as you go down, all alone,
Dragged down by the stone.

I gotta admit that I'm a little bit confused.
Sometimes it seems to me as if I'm just being used.
Gotta stay awake, gotta try and shake off this creeping malaise.
If I don't stand my own ground, how can I find my way out of this
maze?

Deaf, dumb, and blind, you just keep on pretending
That everyone's expendable and no-one has a real friend.
And it seems to you the thing to do would be to isolate the winner
And everything's done under the sun,
And you believe at heart, everyone's a killer.

Who was born in a house full of pain.
Who was trained not to spit in the fan.
Who was told what to do by the man.
Who was broken by trained personnel.
Who was fitted with collar and chain.
Who was given a pat on the back.
Who was breaking away from the pack.
Who was only a stranger at home.
Who was ground down in the end.
Who was found dead on the phone.
Who was dragged down by the stone.

Mine is too late too, but this song has such significant meaning to me and wasn't posted...so...

This was my fiance's favorite song and it is now my favorite. He was murdered in a home invasion 12 years ago and this song reminds me of what an incredible person he was and how positive of an impact he had on my life. RIP Pete...

Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd

So, so you think you can tell Heaven from Hell,
blue skies from pain.
Can you tell a green field from a cold steel rail?
A smile from a veil?
Do you think you can tell?
And did they get you to trade your heroes for ghosts?
Hot ashes for trees?
Hot air for a cool breeze?
Cold comfort for change?
And did you exchange a walk on part in the war for a lead role in a cage?
How I wish, how I wish you were here.
We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl, year after year,
Running over the same old ground.
What have you found? The same old fears.
Wish you were here.

My best friend from college and I send this song/video/lyrics back and forth.:thumb: I remember sitting around and partying with friends and knowing it was all so transitory and we knew it, you know when life's trails are about to permanently part but you so don't want them to -- sigh, men sitting around crying while singing Floyd....:) Welcome to the machine :(

We have a winner!!!!!!!!! Thanks The_Larch for playing.....I just saw the Flaming Lips in concert this summer at the Health and Harmony Fair in Northern Cali....So much fun!!! So this song has great memories for me.
Do you realize That you have the most beautiful face?
Do you realize We're floating in space?
Do you realize That happiness makes you cry?
Do you realize that everyone you know someday will die?
And instead of saying all of your goodbyes
Let them know you realize that life goes fast
It's hard to make the good things last
You realize the sun doesn't go down
It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round
