oh, just for the heck of it, here's an update on my building saga....

I finally found a contractor, and the bank didn't like them. I'm running my back up contractor through my first choice mortgage company, and looking at back up financing for my first choice contractor (who, from the bank's response, maybe shouldn't be my first choice contractor). I think the problem that the bank has with them may be that there tend to be a lot of changes and change fees (just a guess based on the references that I spoke to)

In the meantime, my mom's house is under contract and she's scheduled to move here in mid-october. Working on logistics to get here here with her kitties. I'll fly out and return with her- hopefully by air rather than car. I'm hoping that the construction will at least be started by the time she gets here.

Good morning. Good luck with the financing CES. It sounds like a real mess. I didn't realize that the bank had a say in who you chose as a contractor.

for a separate building loan and really low interest rate refi at the end of it, they want the estimate and approval of the contractor. I'm going to check into a single close loan (refi now for the full amount the house will be worth after construction). I don't know if they'll want a say in the contractor, but they require plans, and estimates won't hurt. The drawback is when i was first checking it out, the single close loan was a full percentage point higher in interest.

    Somewhere between here and there
Good morning. PT, I like Aleve also. It works better for me than Advil. I took two Aleve before I left the house and put on some pain relief cream. It has taken the edge off. The pain is still there but much more tolerable. I'm not sure what I did but am guessing I moved the wrong way with something heavy at work. It's not uncommon for me to lift 40-80 pounds when putting a machine on my work cart. Hopefully it doesn't last long.

On a brighter note, my youngest is going to go take the test for her driver's license today. I hope she passes. I think she has a good chance.
