Hi my friends, it's Vapinpeacechic here and I just wanted to introduce myself and let y'all know a lil about me...
So I quit analogs on Dec 2, 2016 after smoking for 22-23 yrs. bc I am an Aunt that was not about to let my niece & nephew grow up thinking I stunk. lol. I just know how i remembered thinking adults that smoked really stunk as a kid so after spending a weekend with fellow smokers it occurred to me that if they were stinky to me, my amazing niece and nephew would probably think so too. I started out like most new vapers on a small adjustable watt mod and tank but quickly decided I wanted more so graduated to a couple larger mods and a sub ohm tank that I fell in love with almost immediately. Within the first month between all the overpriced premium juice I was going thru and buying a couple setups I realized how much my new "habit" was costing and had to cut some cost effective immediately. Lol. That's when I made my first diy ejuice purchase and it's been fantastic ever since. I still really love vaping but again am ready to cut some of the cost which led me here to the forum on a quest to learn more about Rdas & coil building. Like I said I love my Sub ohm tank, i have several TFV8 tanks, but I don't love paying anywhere from $5 to $11 for coils so I'm ready to move to building my own. Hopefully I'm posting this correctly and I've come to the right place bc I can't imagine going back to cigs and I can almost say indefinitely that I never would but.....just like an addiction, you must stay proactive to avoid relapse right. Lol. Ok well i guess that's it for now, glad to be here, Peace.✌❤ and keep Vapin yall!!! Vapinpeacechic- out.

Yes, making your own coils is the next step. It's pretty easy. I would suggest starting out with a simple single coil deck of some kind. Watch some youtube vids, buy some wire and cotton and get busy. It takes a few builds to get the hang of it and then it just seems to make sense.
Enjoy. BTW, speaking as an addicted person, vaping is a good thing to be addicted to.

Once you rebuild, it opens up more choices in tanks. Obviously I heard there is a rebuildable section for your tank, but you also can try an rda. It also opens you up to rta's like the kayfun 5 and other airy rta's , or even rdta's. With something like the k5, which is fairly airy enough for lung hits, you also can tighten it up, or buy the air restrictor for a mtl vape , just to try another option....not sure how many watts you vape but 26 or 24g wire will suite your needs, also kgd cotton or any ... cotton or rayon for wicking material. The average coil diameter for coils is around 3mm so you need a rod to wrap on. I just use drill bits and small screw driver but they make these kits that have those with a few other items for building coils. Steam engine seems to be the best site for estimating coil resistances. Well good luck

Rda's and rdta's are the best option, after the initial cost of finding which one works best for you it becomes a fraction of the cost of buying coil heads ime. It's super easy to do once you learn, search ohms law, battery safety and amp limits, and resistance wire and read as much as you can. I suggest an rda capable of dual coils (velocity style deck is my favorite) with air holes that you can close off for single coil so that you can start with single coils and still have the option to "upgrade" to dual when your comfortable. And 26 gauge kanthal is the easiest to start out with imo, also a coil master winding tool is a life saver when you first start wrapping coils

Welcome and glad you joined.
Refreshing post, I concur with your take and applaud your good sense. I would approach with a 2 pole deep well RDA :
I like the Magma and Snapdragon clones RDA's.
To start out: 30ga. / .10 coil id /5wraps/ at around 1.5-2.0 ohms./ ~6.8 watts.
Wick: Graham CelluCotton Coil - 100% Rayon By Graham Professional Beauty #44130 (www.sallybeauty.com)
Then go to 24ga. capton duel coil sub ohm multi pole mega juice sucking RTA/RDTA's if desired.
