K guys, I'd appreciate if you could keep your responses from going over my old head here I think I may be ready for sub ohm stuff, but not sure. I think I'll be buying another Istick, (prob 40w) and really need advice for the next tank and coils setup.

I think I've gathered that I need something to better handle my thicker VG liquids but am so confused with all the stuff out there. I'm too old to to build, so please just keep it simple. I also don't have a lot of money so I'd like to keep the cost down, especially for replacement coils.

Can you help?
.

I have a few iSub G tanks (by Innokin) that I really like. I also use high VG, usually 80% to 85% and the only time I have a problem is if I'm sitting and chain-vaping. I sometimes get a burnt hit when I do that, so I've started putting a little distilled water in my juices (I make my own, but you can do this with store-bought also). I've played with percentages all the way up to 10% distilled water, and have found that 3% usually works fine, with a juice that's 85% VG. It doesn't make it pop or crackle, but it's just thin enough to wick well with those coils and wicks.

I also reuse my old atomizers. I pull the old wick out with tweezers, rinse the coil, then blow on it or set it aside to (mostly) dry, then screw it onto a mod set to about 10 watts and pulse-fire it (5 to 8 seconds each time, until it glows) until the crud stops vaporizing off of it and it glows cleanly. Then I take a twist of new wicking, stick it through the coil, twisting it like I'm screwing it into the coil until it starts coming out the far side, then grab and tug back and forth to "settle" it in there, clip the ends off with nail clippers, and it's like new again. I've been using the same 10 atomizers this way for the last 3 to 4 months, maybe even longer. I think it was around August or September when I found out I could clean and re-wick these. So it's CHEAP! LOL!

I love these tanks, and these coils because I can refresh them every day if I need to, and they haven't cost me a penny to run in all these months, except for the wicking, which I bought a HUGE box of for cheap, and the juice, and I make my own so that's not expensive, either. And even though technically, I'm "sub-ohming" with these .5 ohm coils, I usually run them at 25 to 30 watts, so it's a mild vape. I get good flavor from them that way, and it's not so hot that I'm in danger of burning my wick if I overindulge a bit. ;) (I'm old, too, by the way, so I get where you're coming from. ;) )

Hi, and welcome to the ECF Forums @janab !

I am a BIG fan of the Uwell Crown. Top fill, AMAZING flavor and thick chewy vapor. NEVER leaks on me, can use your own 510 drip tip, the price of $20 includes THREE coils, and the coils now can be found as little as $2 each, and I'm getting a couple of MONTHS out of one, AND with alcohol and a qTip, clean up pretty good for another use. Haven't tried a 3rd use yet, but I will! EASILY the most flavorful tank I have yet to try, including the Subtank Mini, Smok TFV4, or any of the Kayfuns which are all close to the top of the heap!

Best vape, aside of an RDA or good 510 drip atty, I have found in my almost 4 years of vaping.

$20 right here! :

Oh, and 70% VG works like a charm! I even use Max VG to prime it, and for the first tank full. NO problem. Good luck!

Edit: Oh heck, I just went and ordered another. :) Gotta stay away from hardware discussions.. haha...

Guess I need to add that I use Velvet Vapors 100% VG. I am currently using an istik 20 with a Nautilas Mini....it leaks and gets too hot too quick.
Try adding a little distilled water to your current setup. It may be leaking and getting to hot because your juice is too thick.

My bottles all have the needle tips, so don't know how to thin.
The needle tip can be removed or you can just fill your tank and add the distilled water to your tank with juice.

If you have a spare empty juice bottle, pop the top off and fill with distilled water. Then try adding a couple of drops of distilled water (per mls of juice) to your tank. Once you determine how much distilled water is ideal, then you can add the appropriate amount to your juice bottle.
