You all know I've been waiting (okay, whining) for Cafe Mocha to return. Mine arrived today. Straight away I knew it was different. The color is much lighter than before and it's lost that creamy, chocolate-y flavor of old. It tastes like regular coffee. It's tasty, but it's just not the same old Cafe Mocha. Perhaps it will more closely resemble the old after having time to steep a little, but I don't detect the chocolate or cream undertones, so I don't hold out too much hope. Hopefully, the wonderful folks at V4L can pass the message to the blender to find the old recipe or just add more cream and chocolate. On the other hand - I've got some old VG Cafe Mocha - any thoughts on mixing the two? How does PG & VG mix?

When this happens with juices I tend to think the recipe is the same but the flavoring supplier may have changed.

That's what I was afraid of. I've already tried a couple of different mixes: VG Cafe Mocha & Wow Chocolate. Haven't found just the right proportions, yet. This Cafe Mocha's taste if very strong - and a little bitter - the best description I can give is that to me, it's like Dunkin Donuts coffee (smooth & rich) and Starbucks (strong, with bitter aftertaste) - but as we know - taste is subjective :2cool:

Spearmint and Cafe Mocha come from different supplier and neither "formula" changed. However, the sourcing for ingredients could be different, which could alter the taste slightly. I tried the Cafe Mocha today and I thought it tasted right to me, but taste is subjective. Linrag, if you send me a PM I'll see if there is anything that I can do for you.

I don't know about you guys, but I've noticed that my own taste buds have also changed (and sometimes changed back!) over the past year (after the initial 3 month "healing" period).

I wonder if this could be a factor for you two?

I did notice a taste-bud taste difference between when I first started vaping waffle & after about a month; I started noticing more subtle buttery undertones. But the basic waffle taste was the same. Unfortunately, the Cafe Mocha is completely different - bitter coffee as opposed to creamy, sweet chocolate with a hint of coffee ........

and the VG Cafe Mocha I pulled out after about 5 months had the old taste too it, so I'm thinking no on the taste buds.....

I have 1/2 of a bottle 'before', and several bottles 'after'...

it's not even close to what it used to be, IMHO... I'm extraordinarily disappointed...

@ cbabbman (reply with quote doesn't appear to be working)

I'm relieved to hear someone else tastes the difference too - it's not just my taste buds - it's no where near what it was.........

I'm sure you've probably tried linrag, but continue to steep! I steeped my Spearmint for a couple days and it didn't really make a difference so I said what the hell and did it for another few days and magically the old flavor I remember is coming back!

It's definitely not just a taste bud thing. The juice transformed from almost completely flavorless to that refreshing spearmint flavor with a good kick of mint. Quite the difference! Hope it works for you too! :)
