Hmmm, old 'lung burn' coming back.

So I quit smoking about 10 months ago and started smoking my Silver Bullet. I initially quit smoking cigarettes because it got to the point where every single night (smoked for about 20 years) it felt like an elephant was sitting on my chest. It was very hard to breathe and catch my breath even the first hour or two upon waking up.

vaping made this go away. Now all of a sudden, it's happening again. Has anyone else experienced this at all? Mainly at night and in the mornings?

:( vaping is all I have and I'd be lost without it but I'm scared at the same time.

Honestly you may need a break. Try cutting your nic down to zero over a months time and then quit vaping for a month. I know this sounds crazy, but it's easier to quit vaping than smoking. Allow yourself to heal for a period of time and then decide if you want to come back to vaping.

Vaping is still an irritant to the lungs and throat. Just not nearly as bad as smoke. If you haven't had any time in between vaping and smoking you may need to take some time.

I know this from experience. I had breathing issues when I was a smoker. I had to hit an inhaler every night. When I switched to vaping I had to hit the inhaler less but I still had nights where it would be needed. Every other night or every three nights. I cut my nic down and quit vaping completely for 3 weeks to a month. When I decided to start vaping again I started again with 0 nic and then worked back up to 18mg. I haven't had any issues and haven't had to touch the inhaler in months.

OMG quit vaping? I really don't think I CAN! LOL It was hard enough to quit smoking and go to vaping!
But I can tell you what I vape. I buy Cappucino and Cocoa Chaos from FreedomSmokeUSA in a 50/50 mixture. I was vaping 24 nic but went down to 18 just this last week when I received my new order. I also bought my cartomizers from Clouds of Vapor.

I sometimes wonder if vaping can cause emphezema? Am I being paranoid?

I don't know. I'm not a doctor. Best consult one. My GUESS is that it would probably take many lifetimes of vaping to cause emphysema, if at all. In my personal experience vaping doesn't help the lungs heal as quickly as completely quitting, but nor does it harm the lungs more. The issues you're having are most likely from your time as a smoker. NicLiq is probably right. You're probably just coming down with a cold. But still best to check with a doctor.

could be the cartomizers. i have had some issues with burning in cartomizers, and not really in taste either. just hit my lungs differently...maybe not wicking fast enough? definitely something to keep in mind. if you can drip on some atomizers, you might be able to find out if its the cartomizer. and lastly it might be the juice? i doubt it, but you never know lol my guess would be the cartomizers though. i experienced major lung burn with ONE bad cartomizer and i didnt realize it b/c i had switched flavors on it and thought it was the flavor, but when i opened it (it was a njoy 2n1 cartomizer - easy to open and drip on the filling) I saw all this black/brown color on the filler and i was coughing for hours. Good luck with finding the problem! May your vaping be long lasting!

I don't think vaping could cause emphysema, but 20 years of smoking could, even if it didn't show up until now.

Your symptoms could also be acid reflux. I would probably put a little money on this idea, it causes that feeling.

I would absolutely go to the doctor though, just for peace of mind.

I wouldn't worry about either of those juice flavors. Maybe try one alone for a day and see if you feel different.

I actually had a lung Xray done about a year ago when I was at the tail end of quitting. It showed alright. NOW....I have actually wondered if it could be the cartomizers. The normal place I bought mine were out (altsmoke) so I went with Clouds of Vapor. I'm actually right now ordering more from Altsmoke in hopes that this is the problem. I wondered if maybe the filiment (that the word?) on the carto is harsher or just a different substance.

Anyone have any good links to order new cartos for the 510 SB? I don't mind buying a few different brands if finding a good one comes out of spending the extra money.

I won't try to figure out what's wrong with you, but I urge you to find out for sure. It may even be unrelated to vaping.

See your doc. If all he tells you is to stop vaping and see if it gets better, tell him you want to look deeper. A chest x-ray can reveal far more than cancer. Infections of all kinds and changes in lung tissue due to non-cancer conditions can show up on radiographs too. The problem could also be with your heart. Don't assume it's nothing, make your doctor work. If he won't check you out, find someone who will. It would be very sad if you didn't get treatment for something small early and it became something big later. Hopefully, you get a clean bill of health and it goes away on its own. You know, just to make you look silly:p
