This has been laying dormant on my gray matter for some time ...

I read a post somewhere in ECF where someone said we shouldn't hold vapor in our lungs for more than 2 or 3 seconds, but there was no reason given. Does anyone know a reason why we shouldn't?

I can't hold vapor to that time , especially with high Nic content. I'll cough it out immediately. But maybe with 6 mg nic I can hold it , but again I naturally don't hold it that long. 3 secs are long if u think about it.

I'd have to go hunting it down, but I read somewhere that the majority of absorption of the nicotine happens in our mouths, not in the lungs.

In any case, when I'm at work and stuff, I hold it in for 5 or 6 seconds so there's very little vapor - if any - left to exhale. We don't have a policy at work on vaping either way, so we (there's a few vapers in our group) openly vape but try not to be jerks about it. I save the big plumes for car and home.

Im pretty sure thats a myth or old wives tale. I also have heard that most get absorbed thru the mouth and nose. I know many people take long deep drags for 5 seconds or more. I also know I have held a cig in for several seconds also. I also hold it on occasion while stealth vaping. Is it bad

That sounds like an old friend of mine who refused to install a firewall or any safety software on his PC because "I only use the internet for 4 Minutes at a time, so I am safe!" *waves at Ingo*

I understand where the idea is coming from, though. The vapor consists of little tiny droplets of PG and VG and flavouring and whatever is in there, and the vapor is basically still liquid, a so called aerosol. Now if you exhale and there is no more vapor left - where has it gone? Right, its in your lungs now.

But will shallow breathing help? Is it a problem at all?
Listening to my body I can tell you that Gitanes times 2 packets times a lot of days in a lot of years were far worse.
