So while searching for an alternative battery. I discovered a new Ryobl plug in 4 volt system. Bought the flashlight, power module, 2 batts and a charger.
I tried the flashlight first. Soldered straight to the power wires attached to the LED PCB. I guess it must be current limited as it would not power a 901 atty. Built a USB to Switch to 901 atty connector. Its ugly! But the batt lasts for a long time. Plus I can burn clean the gooped ones.

The atty adapter came from a dead 901 battery. I am not an engineer nor do I have small hands. So using a 1/4" copper T seemed to be a good idea. If someone can make a neater adapter, it would make a good "At home" battery.
My image does not show, could someone post it for me from my profile?

Interesting mod, little too big for my personal taste, but hey, if it works, it works.
I wonder how much you spent on it?

Never thought about the construction site thing :)
Other than destroying a flashlight of the same design. And buying an extra battery. I have about $70 in it. Counting the charger. I would still like a cleaner design from the mini USB to the Atty, with a switch incorporated. The battery shows 4v at 6Wh. Somebody else can convert that to amp hour. I have noticed that the Atty does no get warm. It may be due to the big copper heatsink :)

Warp,
You are the master of RCA jacks right? Care to try your hand at USB? Mini USB to 901 atty. I'll take more detailed pics if you are interested....

There is nothing that USB can add to the simplicity of an RCA.
That is why I don't use them.
USB connectors are annoying, odd shaped and hard to work with.

Your could have saved a lot of work/time on your mod, and reduce the size also, but regardless of what you chose, you made it and that is what counts here. ;)
