Pine body,stainless steel uppers and lowers, and a brass mechanical switch

After sourcing parts and drawing up a diagram it took about a day to build

I haven't thought about staining this one as it was quickly sourced and i'm not too pleased with the way the body came out. Congratulations on having an original Touchwood!

Here's another picture of individual parts. All the screws, washers, acorn nut, knurled nut, and threaded brass were bought from home depot for around $6 CDN

Wow, that looks very nice. It seems "simple enough" but I do not think mine would turn out quite that nice. Where did you source the stainless end caps?

The end caps were cut from some old institutional door kick plates...I was hoping to find some brass ones but the ones I saw were too thin. I figure they measure about 1/16th of an inch thick and don't flex at all when everything's tightened up.

I've always fancied a Touchwood but can't afford one. Is yours any cheaper?

Wow, VERY nice work! I much prefer DIY projects, and this is something I may consider doing in the future! Thx for the pictures!

I guess cheaper might be subjective.
The only parts I had to pay for was the brass hardware...around 6$ CDN.
The wood, springs, and stainless steel I had kicking around and the 510 connector was about $1 each when I bought a bunch about a year ago.
I have all the tools (drill press, grinders, dremels, and such in my shop) but that could add up if you don't have those.

So all in all I have about $7 and 4-5 hrs labour into this. I never stained it as the body wasn't as well done as I thought it could be.

Razmakati it looks wonderful, but a tip for you, if you use a photo hosting service like photobucket, it is free and you can put the [ img]link.com[/img] in chat for bigger pictures (no spaces of course)
