I have two evods and a mini davide. The evods are great, and wanted a glass one for home use. The davide has a rubbery taste issue as Busardo said. They can use the same heads so I was able to determine that the davide taste issue is not related to the heads -- I can take the head out of the offending davide and it vapes right without bad taste in the evod. Ok but bummer for the davide -- it's a cool, nice looking super well made tank.

Now, I believe there are two taste issues with these BCCs out there -- one is the residue sometimes remaining in the tank or head post- manufacture. this is taken care of by soapy wash and vodka soak before use. The davide mini rubbery taste seems to be something different; I am inclined to believe it comes from something else. Folks are pointing to the bottom seal gasket where the coil wire ends are termintated/gounded; however this gasket is part of the replaceable head if I'm not getting it wrong, so I think I can say that's not what is producing the burned rubber taste. If anyone has really gotten to the bottom of this I'd love to know. Meanwhile, I'll probably be trying the protank 2 mini for home/glass use....

I love my mini. I primarily use my carto tanks but for stealth vaping I use my mini davide. Have not had a burnt taste in it. First thing i did is throw away the coils that came with it. Second, I rinsed it with hot water and soaked it in vodka for 24 hours. Third I used my protank coils in it. Only thing I hate about this tank is filling it, I have to use a syringe.

What about those of us that aren't old enough to buy vodka? -_-

Use white vinegar.

I have found soaking any delivery devices in white vinegar for 5-10minutes, and then rinsing VERY well, works unbelievably well at neutralizing residual or unwanted flavors.

I would like to recant my previous post. When I posted that I did not have a rubbery taste, I was vaping on a dominant flavor ( deadly sin - good life vapor). Just yesterday I tried a fruit flavor ( wild berries - orb vapor - not a complex ejuice ) and guess what, I tasted the rubbery taste. So yes, there seems to be an issue.

I feel as if I can reply as the Davide uses the Protank base + heads.

So ... I as well have the rubber taste, I am about to shelve my Protank 2's because of it. I really want to love these BCC's as it would be a perfect vape if not for the Rubber taste. But since the only thing these two tanks have in common is the base + heads, I am willing to gamble that it is the head, and I am fairly certain it is the rubber insulator for the positive post. The question is how do we DEFEAT the problem?

Guys,

I got home ... Butchered an insulator (chopped half the length off) but that removed one of the flanged ends that help seal the head. I expected it to be leaky and it was. But it resolved the burnt rubber taste.

I then did swapping with a new head, and swapped around insulators, and was able to replicate the problem. It is pretty definitive to me that it is the rubber insulator.

If you're interested in trying a cheap glass BCC that (so far in my limited experience with it) works really well, consider the Smoktech ARO. I had similar burnt-taste issues with the Protanks, but not the EVOD, however we all know the EVOD is plastic so if you want glass, eh...

Smoktech ARO Pyrex Glass BCC - Black

Like I said, I can't say I've used it for weeks upon weeks to confirm there are no burnt taste issues, but so far this has been the best clearomizer of any type I've used to date.
