From the many articles I've read about this legal battle, it appears that Hon Lik is only looking for pennies on each sale and I haven't heard if he is looking for retroactive compensation on sales to date. I would like to know more about the settlement he's after, but I do hope he gets compensation for the gift he's given to all of us.

I am, however, concerned about the new owners of the patents (Imperial tobacco) and what their intentions might be going forward.

You invent anything that will aid a car getting 100 MPG ... It will never hit the market.

My hat is off to Hon Lik, the father of the modern e-cigarette. Does he have a Paypal account? I would like to send him some money. We should all do that. Who here would not be willing to give him a dollar, $2 or $5? If not, shame on you. There are more than 158,000 members on ECF. If every member sent him only one US dollar, he would at least know he is appreciated in his efforts to battle the scourge of and overcome the demon of leaf tobacco. What say you ECF?

I agree with the comments about the contribution he made to the world. However, I find it interesting that the a product out of China would get copycatted elsewhere, rather than the other way around.

That's an understatement. I was in a Mall in Hong Kong. They could have called it Knock Off Heaven. Of course, if you think of it. most of what we buy as "name brand" was manufactured over there anyway. Did you ever notice where your cell phones were made?
